Mostly found in Tibet and Nepal, singing bowls are used for religious ceremonies in monasteries by Buddhist as a tool for Prayers, Chants and Meditation. However, with spread of Buddhism, the popularity of Singing Bowls had. travelled across Asian Continents and in countries like China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam etc. However, now it can a cross continent presence and is used in many countries. How to Play your Singing Bowl – Remove rings or hand ornaments to avoid contact with the bowl. You can either use Striking method or Rimming method to play. In the striking method, you take the wooden mallet and strike the bowl gently to produce a high pitched metallic tone. In rimming method, you balance the bowl on one palm and hold the mallet like a pen on the other hand and gently touch and circle the mallet with little pressure to produce a high resonant vibration. Handmade in Nepal Skilled Artisans from Nepal still use traditional process to make the singing bowl. The alloy is heated at higher degrees and hand beaten meticulously for hours to form the desired shape and tone. To refine the tune the artisans carefully hammer the bowl outside and inside until the desired sound is produced.
