We use this thermometer in the clinic I work at and they are great. They're fast, they're accurate, the batteries last forever, and they stand up to daily use in a busy clinic for years. It emits a soft chirp once the temperature reading is complete. No loud or obnoxious beeps or squawks here. I have used other thermometers in the clinical setting and nothing beats this one. It takes two AA batteries and it will be years before you have to replace them. The backlit display allows you to take temperatures in dim lighting. There are few nooks and crannies on the surface and the plastic is durable and smooth, making it easy to sanitize. One might balk at the price of the thermometer but, trust me, it's worth it. Highly recommend for healthcare workers.

I am an anesthesiologist working at an outpatient surgery center as well as a major metropolitan hospital system. Over the years we have used a variety of thermometers in our preoperative and recovery areas, ranging from under the tongue thermometers to in ear tympanic membrane thermometers to two different professional touchless scanning thermometers. In addition, I have had experience with many consumer grade touchless thermometers. NOTHING comes close to the consistency and accuracy of this unit. This unit is very expensive but in this case you get what you pay for. Point it at a highly perfused area of the patient and wait for the reading. I suggest temple, forehead, neck or even chest.
