At first I hesitated to buy the Organic Coffee Co. Gorilla Decaf. I expected a routine morning cup of joe at a higher price than I usually pay. One can never be too careful with one's money these days. That's one reason I use a moka pot. It has now been proven by my using up the two pound bag of the Gorilla Decaf in a little over two weeks, while it usually takes about eight to ten weeks to go through 2 pounds of the mandatory stuff. This coffee dazzles the taste buds and livens the consciousness. There is just one problem: I cannot stop drinking several cups a day now. This is good coffee.

Wonderful tasting, dark roast coffee. I hope it's Swiss Water process like the description says, because the container doesn't mention it anywhere. Otherwise, it's high quality and organic and an excellent value for the money.

My first inkling that these coffee beans were no good was when I cut open the bag and I couldn't smell a strong coffee smell, like I have with other brands of whole coffee beans, and which is usually very enjoyable to me. I then proceeded to grind some of the beans, hoping that would bring out a more pronounced coffee smell, but no, the ground beans smelled like earthy dirt or maybe garden soil, not necessarily disgusting, just not fresh, as if the beans were roasted years ago. I couldn't stomach the thought of brewing any coffee with these beans, so I just threw the whole bag out. Waste of my money and I'll avoid this brand in the future.

The beans appears dark roast, but grinding finds a look like medium roast. The taste is a bit bitter. The flavor is full and good, other than the bitterness.

Thé coffee was fantastic but the exchange rate was not at all fantastic in fact I think the conversion must have gone from usd to aud then aud to nzd with fees all the way? Because of this not the product I would not order again.

The product's value is in its flavour of hazelnut and cream. but after trying it, I couldn't taste the hazelnut or the cream. In addition, the use by date was a month and 1/2 from my receipt date.very disappointed

The packaging is clear plastic which doesn't keep the beans as fresh for a longer time due to the beans absorbing the light and heat from the tropical climate leading to earlier degradation, despite keeping in an airtight container. If foil wrappers are used, it wil be more heatproof and prevent light to enter, ensuring the beans of higher level of freshness. Especially since this is a 1kg package that takes me about 3 weeks to consume after opening the package.

It is tough to find a good decaf coffee that is whole bean, organic and doesn’t taste horrible. This one is pretty good. I tried it on a whim as my regular decaf was unavailable. I use it in an espresso machine so if you’re familiar with that process then you will understand why the 4 stars as opposed to 5. First, these beans are a little more difficult to work with to achieve a perfect extraction. I found myself altering my tamping to make up for the unforgiving nature of the coffee just to get a decent extraction. It was hit or miss but if I could get it in the range then it would make a drinkable latte. I found the flavor of these beans to be more suitable in iced drinks such as iced latte or iced americano. Also, since it is not a “freshly” roasted coffee, I noticed the bean quality deteriorated quickly after opening so I would recommend storing the beans in an air tight container that is made for coffee storage. The beans that I stored in that manner deteriorated far less than beans that I kept tightly sealed in the bag.
