Ordered this bag to go with my lawn boy mower deck that I rebuilt and added an adapter for a four stroke engine. After limited use, two days of cutting, the bag is showing severe fraying around the area is attaches to the chute. Guess I should go with the more expensive OEM Lawn boy bag.

The bag appears to be of similar or better quality than the original lawn boy bag that it is replacing. I purchased the lawn boy bag in 2014. You need to keep your old plastic handle from the old bag. The new bag comes with a long cable tie that is used to attach the new bag to the old handle. The old bag is held to the plastic handle with a cable tie. On my old bag this is a narrower cable tie than that which came with the new bag. I've uploaded a photo showing the old cable tie (left) and the new cable tie on the right side of the photo. The difference in width isn't a big deal except at the top near the handle. There isn't enough room for the wider cable tie to lie flat between the handle and the flange on the back of the adapter. You can see this in the close up photo (there is a gap under the new bag and the frame part of the handle. I just worked the cable tie down at an angle (it is too wide to lay flat) and tightened the cable tie until there wasn't any space. I left some of the cable tie rather than cutting it flat in case i have to tighten the cable tie after using for a while. I will eventually cut it flat rather than leave a potentially sharp piece of plastic near where I frequently handle the bag.You can either cut the cable tie on the old bag. On my old bag there is a slot in the bag near the bottom on the slide where the cable tie is exposed. I was able to work the bag off without having to cut the cable tie. Once you remove the old bag from the old plastic handle/adapter, you fish the new cable tie through the slot in the new bag. The new bag has a slot near the middle of the top of the bag. Then you just work the bag over the handle/adapter. On my adapter there wasn't enough room to make the new cable tie lay flat between the handle and the flange on the back of the adapter. I just worked the cable tie down and tightened it as best as I could. I did the hand tug test and it appears to be firmly attached to the handle/adapter.

The zipper finally failed on my 1989 Lawn Boy bag and this ended up being a great replacement after I figured out how to zip-tie this new bag to the old plastic collar. The instructions aren't great so it took me awhile to understand the zip-tie needed to be inserted into a hole in the bag. After that, it was pretty easy to attach the bag to the collar. Bag seems durable but the zipper is plastic vs. a metal zipper on the original Lawn Boy bag. We'll see how long it lasts. I expect my 1989 2-cycle Lawn Boy mower to keep going for many years to come. That's another (good) story!

Good replacement for this mower. The mesh bag is good but I liked the original because it would inflate and allow more grass to enter the bag. I would also use a thinner zip tie than the one provided. Beside these two issues, it works.
