I bought this because of the higher amperage rating compared to the Curt model. When I went to install it, I became very disappointed with it's design. The shorter wires for the tail light connection goes to the passenger side, which forces you to mount the control box OVER the exhaust. It's very tight up there and that makes this installation harder than it should be. I'm sure the heat from the exhaust will shorten it's life, too. In hindsight I should have mounted it in reverse, then switched the directional leads at the trailer connector. I HIGHLY recommend doing it that way. I'm giving it one start because of it.

I originally had one of the connectors backward, which I am surprised was even possible, but after fixing that they have worked perfectly.

This was fairly easy for me to install. I didn't have help so I used a wire hanger to fish the wires up and out the rear brake light holes. Need to be really careful not to break the existing brake light plugs as some are difficult to unplug. Unless you have a lift you will be on the ground under the car running the power cord to the battery. Took me 1 1/2-2 hours to complete. Works great!!

Watch the U-Haul video on youtube for this product. Much better explination than the poorly Xeroxed copies that come with the kit. Easy to do. Allow a couple of hours as you will crawl under the vehicle several times. Overall easy enough for a DIYer.

The instruction were in black and white and it was not very clear. I watched a video on YouTube for the instal. It was fairly easy with a few challenges. Just take your time. Total install was about 3 hours. Most of that time was running the hot wire from the back of my Jeep to the front. All in all, I’m very pleased with my purchase. Highly recommend.

High quality product and easy to install on a late model Grand Cherokee. I appreciated the long 12v wire that was included. Since my battery is located under the seat, that gave me extra wire running to the rear. No worry about coming up short. I found it easier to run the taillight connections from the bottom. I used a string to help pull the wire up from underneath to each taillight. In all, only took about 30 min to accomplish. Highly recommended.

I installed this kit on my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee (not equipped with factory tow package/wiring). It was a bit of a struggle to get the mass of wiring and additional connectors tucked behind the driver's side taillight and the taillight retaining clips secured - a couple of tries required to get it right. I used a split wiring harness cover on my installation to provide added protection for the long positive lead that needs to run under the car to the front end - it was a major pain to get the wire inside the harness cover, but I'm glad I spent the extra time to do this - my Jeep's (along with pretty much every other car's) factory installed wiring harnesses are installed inside split harness covers to protect them so I figured it was a good idea to mimic what the manufacturer did. If you're installing this kit on a Jeep Grand Cherokee, note that the battery is installed in a compartment under the front passenger seat and there is an aluminum post under the hood (used to jump start the car if needed) that worked out well for the mounting point to attach the positive lead from the kit harness. The supplied lead was barely long enough to reach - they sure cut it close when they designed this kit. Take your time and carefully plan out your wire routing under your car before you start - this will save time and frustration. I also used zip ties to secure everything in place and prevent wiring from coming into contact with hot/moving components under the vehicle. Also make sure you have a wire crimping tool and electrical tape handy before you start - there are a couple of splices required. If you're a mechanically inclined individual, you'll be able to successfully install this kit. Wear safety glasses since a lot of dirt and debris will be dislodged while you are working under your car, and take your time with the installation. If you are not comfortable crawling around under your vehicle, cutting and splicing wire, taking things apart and reassembling them, getting a lot of small cuts on your hands from sharp edges under your vehicle, etc. - you should definitely have this kit installed by a professional.

I've used Tekonsha Harness T-Connectors before, and the terminals, wiring, and plugs are all first-rate. I look for Tekonsha when I have to wire a trailer hitch. But, whomever wrote / followed the instruction sheet NEVER actually installed the product! In the English version (Page 1) Step# 6, it starts "Locate the battery inside the vehicle’s trunk" The battery in late-model Jeep Grand Cherokees are directly under the passenger seat, NOT THE TRUNK! That's why Tekonsha T-Connector P/N 118727 gave you a 20½ feet length of 12-gauge wire.Instead, I searched for a *video* of the instructions. One of them suggests that you connect the 12-gauge battery wire to a terminal under the hood instead (the same terminal that you use to jump-start a Grand Cherokee.) That made more sense, and I installed it that way.
