Somewhere on product description it should state this is for 14/28ml. I bought to replace an older one that I had that used 7ml water, fill to 14ml with cya solution in bottle. That much of a mixture would get it nowhere near where it needs to be read. This tube is about twice as wide in diameter as old so would require a ton more cya solution.

I gave it two stars because it is functional, but have doubts about how long it will last.Product is a closed end tube with unbelievably flimsy walls. In the past this tester was made with a much more substantial, thicker walled plastic. The sides of this thin-walled plastic tube extrusion are so thin they can bend when you pick it up. Product has two parts, the tube and on the bottom of this tube is a printed label that has small black dot with a white background. You put treated water in the tube up to the level where you can no longer see the dot, then take a reading. Being so simple, what could go wrong??Simple, add to the cheap tube a cheap adhesive to stick the label on the bottom of the tube. When the label falls off, it becomes useless. This is EXACTLY what happened to me. I went to use it and the label was gone. I searched and eventually found it. I then re-affixed it to the bottom.I know a little about plastic molding and my guess is that this cost no more than $.40-$.60 to produce, yet it retails for about $10. I realize that there is shipping, overhead, etc. involved but give me a break! I have bought inexpensive multi-part pool thermometers for less than $4.Hopefully Taylor, who, in the past, have always made quality products, doesn't have the same people working on cost savings when they formulate their testing chemicals.

WORKS, BUT EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT IT IS

I'm able to measure my cya at 20 ppm or greater. I keep it low as my pool is always covered until use. Use less chems that way. The only bad thing is it needs about 22.5 ml of solution and 22.5 of the pool water to be able to get to 20 mark. Make sure to buy the commercial size if you plan on using.

Works, but it’s too big. Bought as a replacement and the diameter is larger, so it takes too much solution to render an accurate reading. It actually takes more than the mixing container mixes. So you have to run two batches consuming extra test chemical. It works properly, but is just not efficient

I misplaced my older CYA test tube and was so happy to see this one on Amazon. Plus, the black indicator on the bottom of my old one was probably worn out and giving false readings.

Regular Taylor units stop at 30 PPM.Since you should keep residential pool CYA below 25-30 PPM, this unit enables me to accurately measure and maintain my CYA to just under 20, which is where I want it to be. High CYA reduces chlorine power and lowers ORP.

Blue white changed the design since I purchased one several years ago It now also has graduations for schedule 40 and schedule 80 pipe for more accuracy.
