Purchased these for my grandfathers 2002 Dodge Dakota but they didn’t fit.

I can't speak to other years - but this did Not fit on my 1993 Dakota. Please see the attached photo, the opening on the cable was too small to fit the stud on the truck.Cables seem well built and was the correct length, but I ended up throwing them out.

I have a 2001 Dakota and one of these cables broke and then the other. I thought about making some new ones and then I saw these. These are just like the originals on the truck and even come with a new post bolts. I probably won't bother replacing those. Cable is plastic covered tp prevent scratching the paint and heat shrink tubing keeps water out of the crimp. The eyelet is enlarged on one end and just needs to be pushed in and the clip will retain it. This is a quick fix and I can forget about denting the tailgate. Now I will be able to lift loads onto the tailgate. This is a quick job for anyone.
