For years my HVAC condensation has been draining into the French Drain that runs the perimeter of my basement. This has caused really high humidity and mold in the basement. I decided that there had to be a better way to drain that excess water. So, I ordered and installed this pump to deliver the water to the outside of my house. Stay tuned for more on this review for the results of my efforts.

I'm very disappointed I bought this pump. The short story is the float switch commonly gets stuck and even though its full of water the pump doesn't turn on. If you don't wire in the safety shut off, you'll flood the area this is located.I set mine up in the crawlspace with a dehumidifier without the safety shut off. Honestly, if I did wire this up it would force the dehumidifier to be off all the time and I wouldn't have been able to do the troubleshooting I needed to.The reservoir would fill up and then start spilling over, requiring a nudge or kick to engage the pump (as noted by other reviewers). I was hoping additional water pressure would help encourage the float switch to work, so I put the pump into a larger clear plastic container that would allow the water to rise up past the reservoir level and apply more force on the float switch. This just didn't work. I would find the pump submerged under 6 inches of water and no pumping. Fortunately, the pump and wiring didn't seem to care. I would unplug it, then pull it out so it wasn't submerged, then power it back on and manually hold the pump at the right level while it consumed the water in the container.I attempted to have the pump tilted at different angles to encourage the float switch to work and still no.Next I opened up the pump to look at the actual switch itself and wow, it would be hard to find a more terrible piece of engineering. Maybe the worse float switch design known to man, no wonder this pump doesn't kick on. I'd like to wire the safety shut off switch to kick on the motor because it appears to be very sensitive, but I don't think that switch is designed for the amps. And for the company, if you see this. The shortcut to fix this problem is to put a larger plastic float on the bottom that (and possibly has a longer neck above it). The issue is that the float doesn't have enough force to trigger the switch and often gets stuck. A gentle kick pushes it over the required force and the pump will trigger. Or you need a switch that is more sensitive. Either way this is a total failure and I know what company I won't use for my future AC/dehumidifying needs. You should recall all this garbage. Now I have to reengineer your product just to make it work.

Doesn't work all the time, only sometime. Flooded part of my basement because of it. I contacted the manufacturer. I followed up two weeks later, still no response. I'll have to throw it out and spend the money again on another brand. Avoid Superior Pumps, product didn't work and manufacturer doesn't respond to inquires.Email to Superior Pumps :"Hello. I purchased this pump for my furnace. I installed it in place of the old one and then filled it with water to test it. No problem.I went to my furnace room a week later and it was flooded. The pump doesn't seem to work all the time. I have the pump sitting in a plastic bucket because it works infrequently and I can't keep drying up water.Example, I turned my AC. Checked the pump and for 18 hours it was fine. I checked it again and it was floating in water in the bucket. As soon as I gently touched the housing it immediately pumped. Super gently touched.I took the top off and verified there was no interference for the float. I engaged the float a number of times by hand and it worked every time. I put everything back together, filled the pump and it worked. Came back later and the bucket had water in it because the pump hadn't pumped. A light touch from my hand and the pump pumped. Why doesn't it work every time it fills up?Thank you."

I bought this to replace a noisy Little Giant that lasted about 11 years. I used to be able to hear the older unit from outside the basement. I can't hear this thing at all. In fact, after installation, I had to go back down to make sure it was actually working. It was. It's just really quiet. We'll see how long it lasts. I'll update my review if something goes bad.

The fan blade was hitting and would not allow the pump to work so I had to modify it to get it to work
