I am repairing/restoring an older MTD/Yard-Man rear tine tiller. I highly caution anyone purchasing this throttle cable and control bundle to make sure you know what you are getting for your money. I'd heard that Stens made quality products but not in this case. Although the cable was directly cross referenced to the original it was several inches too short and without proper anchor points. And the throttle control assembly was very cheap plastic and generic in design. It was not identical to the original in design or materials making the bundle useless to me.

Was having trouble finding a replacement throttle cable for an old Roper garden tractor. (Same as a Sears suburban). With the addition of a keeper collar on the carburetor end, this cable fit and worked perfectly. Very pleased with the quality.

Nice cable; be sure it’s going to be the correct length of the application you’re using it for!

I purchased this for my dad’s lawnmower. He hasn’t mentioned it since he received it so I’m assuming it works good.

I have an MTD lawn tractor that was purchased in 1988. I have used it for 2-10 hours every week, 9 months of the year for 23 years. What a machine. So far I'm still married to the same woman and riding the same mower. When something works well why change it? But, do yourself a favor and fix a few things every now and then. With the mower, not the marriage.I swapped out my throttle cable last week and it feels like a new mower. I now realize that over the course of 23 years the old throttle cable got just a little rustier and a little harder to position every time I took it for a spin. Until I put in this new cable I had no idea I was breaking my fingers (and my pliers) adjusting the throttle position. The only thing tighter than my old throttle cable was my wallet. Over 23 years of constant use you forget how easily the thing slipped in back when everything was young and lubricated. It might run just as straight when its older, but it sure took a lot more pushing to hit the right position.I should have bought this 10 years ago and enjoyed a rust-free, factory-perfect fit that was not too tight and not too loose; just what Goldilocks ordered.
