The Standard Horizon GX1850 Fixed Mount Radio is an outstanding piece of equipment for marine communication. It’s incredibly reliable, with clear sound quality and strong reception, even in challenging conditions. The display is easy to read, and the controls are intuitive, making it simple to operate even for those who aren’t tech-savvy. The built-in GPS is a fantastic bonus, adding an extra layer of safety. Whether you're cruising along the coast or out on open waters, this radio provides peace of mind and excellent performance. A solid choice for any boater!

Works well, easy to install, nema 2000 compatible, but still haven't figured out how to set up the DSC or have it display our GPS coordinates.

Replaced old Ray-18 VHF which was integrated with System GPS. This radio has lots of options easy install just read manual before you do anything. I bought the external GPS receiver, but missed the part in the instructions about the fact you had to cut the plug off and only use three of the wires to connect it to this radio, simpler than I thought, and I drilled a bigger hole than I needed to, so just make sure you read before you do anything. Support MMS, AIS external microphone and Nema 2000. Lots of radio for the money!

I did not realize there was a model with GPS and without. I found the model I wanted then shopped price. The one i bought had no GPS. I have a GPS antenna on the boat so will just have to run cables. I am purchasing a second unit for the bridge will make sure I order the one with GPS.

My GX1850 failed fried a control board after only 6 months, and the Standard Horizon warranty team is truly horrific. After mailing it in (at my expense) and getting a replacement approved, it has been complete radio silence for 6 weeks. Emails are completely ignored, and all phone calls are transferred to an unattended voicemail box. The unit was fine when it worked, but at this price point a 6 month lifespan followed by months of downtime is egregiously bad. Just buy an Icom and save yourself the trouble.

Works great. But I’ll probably replace with a unit that has gps integrated. I didn’t realize this one requires a separate GPS receiver when I ordered; that’s my own fault, as a lot of the options on the different models blend together. Great choice if you have a GPS receiver or GPS chart plotter you can plug into this radio.

Purchased radio for ocean use and voice transmissions come over loud and clear. Has good reception and transmission using added exterior antenna. Adding the GPS feature to the radio from my chart plotter-depth finder took some time but there are a couple of good sites on you tube and google that give detailed wiring instructions for Standard Horizon Radios and the various major brand fish finders-chart plotters.

Very compact and functional radio with DSL. Easy install, but Oops it does not see either of the GPS units on the nmea network. They both see it, so network is functional. A call to tech support was no help, researc on internet found several discussion group threads suggesting this is an unresolved problem. I hooked up the nmea 0183, and it gets the GPS data (from one unit) now. I will live with it that way, but disappointed in failure of plug and play nmea functionality. The only other issue, is there is no speaker in the mic. My old radio, had that so I miss it. Otherwise solid radio, tucks away nicely with its compact size, and is easy to operate. I spent lots of time digging in menus
