Exact Actuation let's this shifter work with many older SRAM derailleurs including X5, X7, and X9. Also, SRAM NX, APEX, and Rival road derailleurs. This is a high quality shifter at a great price

While I’m not an engineer, I am pretty handy. I thought stringing a longer cable/cable housing to a new set of Jones H-bars would be quick work, until I inadvertently messed up the top spring on my SRAM Apex 1 trigger shifter pulling out the old cable (still not sure what I did to foul it up). Couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working correctly, so like an idiot I pulled the whole thing apart to start over. BIG mistake on my part, and after a couple agonizing hours searching and watching YouTube while attempting to rebuild, I gave up. Maybe my fingers are too fat, or my motor skills have slipped the last few years, but I couldn’t get the wound spring that holds the downshift lever fitted correctly. Bought the $29 replacement, noted the shift cable is already pre-threaded in the shifter (now I know why!), strung up the cable and cable housing and had it dialed in within 10 minutes. I should have just bought a new shifter (again, which includes the cable) and new cable housing separately. Smooth and quiet operation - the new shifter works perfectly.

Works perfectly for me. A little different than the thumb and forefinger trigger shifters I was used too, but I like this style more now.

No need to go with the higher end models. This one hardly weighs a thing and has great feel. Paired with CX1 RD.
