I recently got this cold air intake for my 2009 f150. Out of the box the parts were dirty, looked like they had been dropped in the dirt. Finger prints covered the intake tube. The instructions were very straightforward and easy to follow. I do a lot of work on my vehicles and am very mechanically inclined. The first issue I ran into is the heat shield housing, which comes in two pieces that are supposed to be screwed together. However, the housing pieces did not align properly and required bending to be able to fasten them together. Not something that should be required from a kit like this.Second, and more important issue, is the intake tube does not align with the coupler to the heat shield. There is no way for it to fit properly without falling out. I’ve ensured the heat shield housing is properly installed. I installed the intake tube to the throttle body, and the angle is no where close to being correct to be clamped down and stay in place at the coupler. The coupler needs to be flexible or the intake tube needs to have a different angle. Also the insert in the intake tube sticks out only about 1/4 inch for the clamp to secure to which is nowhere near enough. Thus I am unable to use this product and very disappointed with how it arrived and the poor quality. You get what you pay for I guess. I would stay far away from this product and choose a different brand.
Great price but really poor product.

This Cold Air intake by Spectre is amazing!! The sound it makes on wide open throttle is awesome, my dad absolutely loves it! I own a 2010 f150 and I bought the truck from my dad and it was the first mod I ever put on. It has significantly improved my MPGS and will buy again from Spectre

Installed this intake on a 2007 Ford Expedition, instructions were fine everything went together smoothly. Used some foil tape to seal up gaps at the junction of the factory air box and the spectre air box. Have been experiencing about 3 mpg better than the stock air filter setup.

If you buy this, I suggest using some water and dish soap to help lube up the couplers, my only concern is the Maf sensor. It might rubAlso the clamps are really cheap, broke one

2 weeks later. Good fit, fair quality. Amazing improvement in throttle response. Slightly better gas mpg. Worth the money. Just toss the garbage spectre filter in the trash and put a k&n filter on

Disappointed that it came with scuffs on the aluminum tube and what appeared to be cracks in the rubber elbow. They did not go all the way through so I installed anyway. I’m not a fan of the cap between the heat shield and the existing air box, but I’ll likely just fill that with rtv later. There’s a definite vibration from sound that can be felt in the gas pedal as rpms climb right at the shift from 1st to 2nd, maybe due to the heat shield not sitting in place terribly tight or being overly stiff metal. I do like how it cleaned up the look of the engine bay and the sound when you get on the throttle. Haven’t driven enough yet to speak on mileage or performance, will update when I get the chance. Would like to see them possibly replace the aluminum tube and/or the rubber elbow. Additionally, the plastic insert that restricts flow just upstream of the MAF did not fit at all and was scuffed up, looked like this product was possibly returned or not assembled well before being boxed due to damage. For the price I’m not expecting overly high quality, but the inside of all the parts had lots of small pieces of plastic and aluminum shavings that I had to clean prior to install.

Just received and installed a 9970-Spectre for my 2009 F150 Platinum 5.4 liter. It fits perfect and runs so much better, no more flat spot (stumbles) off the gas pedal when accelerating, sounds really good too. Clamps fit perfect worked perfect, not sure why some complained about them, they are great clamps perfect width and length, no problem whatsoever! I have a K&N plastic tube on my Tahoe in comparison the K&N is junk. In the past the K&N it leaked air up around the intake manifold connection, the plastic tube like changed its shape concaved in. Had to fill the gap with some permatex and let it dry. Drove the Ford all over testing out the freshly installed (9970 Spectre), came home popped the hood put my hand on the aluminum tube it was warm but not hot at all, plus it’s 90 degrees today, the plastic JUNK K&N on the Tahoe is always warm too maybe even warmer actually than the aluminum Spectre tube that's now on the Ford. Bottom-line very pleased, well made fits perfect, no issues, would certainly buy again! Plus it is considerably cheaper than the K&N and others that are way overpriced, ridiculous for what they want for them $$$, really is.

Great throttle response improvement and 2 MPG in town and 3 MPG on highway gain when paired with a Jet MAF Sensor on 2010 F150 5.4L V8.No joke it will make your engine sound like an airplane spooling up when you floor it, but if you're not driving like an @$$Hole than it's very little difference in noise even when accelerating.Installation instructions are okay, better than some other things I've installed in the past only in Chinese, but it skips multiple steps.Tip: 1. Assemble the airbox first and put the bolt heads on the inside of the box facing out, it will look nicer when complete. 2. Install the Vacuum connector in the 90 degree elbow from the inside out before putting on the throttle body. 3. You will need a 10mm wrench/socket, 8mm socket or wrench for hose clamps, flat head screwdriver and phillips screw driver.

I bought this May 2017. It arrived scratched, the adjuster tube at the filter end was installed wrong, I could not get the sensor installed so I had to pry out that inner tube to reset it, which caused more damage. The PCV tube on the intake was not even installed, took some time to get it in, and once in, a bear to connect to the OEM hose and clip. It does not line up at all, and there is actually a risk that this small tube can get pushed through INTO the engine intake. What a brutal design. If I cannot return this, I guess I will JB weld this part to try to stabilize it. The clamps, none were rounded at all, all 4 were oval, and required a lot of fixing before being able to be used. In hindsight, having a metal tube across the engine bay is not a good design at all. Plastic, or at least some heat wrap would be better than this stainless (I assume) tube.Very poorly designed, poor fit, terrible packaging. I would avoid this
