I am a huge fan of these Smallrig accessories for my Nikon cameras. This one is no exception. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to use extra shoes, cage accessories, or wants to protect their camera a little more.The cage does not interfere with Z30 sound/internal mic.

At Chromatics Creative Studios, our workflow depends on maximum efficiency, and the ability to set up our workspace as creatively as possible. Almost immediately upon installing the cage, we felt a positive noticeable difference in the grip of the Z30 camera that we use. The cold shoe on the corner is such a game-changer, allowing us to mount the flash to the cage while we have the trigger mounted direct to the camera. Such a perfect purchase. We needed this! This cage is perfect. it's lightweight with many mounting points and adds protection for your investment. Any camera I buy going forward will have a cage on it from Smallrig

I love this product. I needed to have more cold shoe attach points. Works great for that. Only nit is it’s hard to hit the Record button. Mostly I use the Nikon remote so that solves the problem. Good fit, high quality.

The smallrig cage for the Nikon z30 is a great product. You will have access to all of the z30's controls. It will provide some protection to the top, bottom and sides of the camera. It have a lot of mounting point (1/4-20, 3/8 and ARRI). You will be able to mount top handles, side handles, cold shoes and more to the cage. It makes it look cooler too.

This actually a really well made. It fits quite precisely. The magnetic key is a nice touch. After using it a bit, there are a couple or three things, though. Though I haven't tested this to see yet, the top bar sits in front of the microphones on my Z30, though one will likely be using an external mike for the most part anyway, not a big deal per se:-) There's a cold shoe mount on the side The other part is when you fit the cage to the z30. Though it has the little swing out thingy for the battery cover, you do have to make sure to ensure the other edge doesn't catch as well. Though that little extra depth is nice, it also makes it a bit harder to get the SD card out. Though it is slightly awkward, getting at the record button is a bit tight. Not enough to be a deal breaker though. I've added the mini top grip and monitor mount as well.

I’ve set up a two camera system for shooting interviews, with two Z30 cameras, each with the SmallRig Z30 cage. The ability to attach shotgun mic’s, a field recorder, an external monitor, etc makes the SmallRig cage a very useful accessory. And, the cage is even comfortable to hand hold the camera when no accessories are attached. Plus, as an added bonus, the cage fits directly into the Manfrotto tripod head without the need to attach a mounting plate. Well worth it…
