This cage is just a cheap piece of aluminum with a top piece so thin that it bends forward. I got two instead of the normal cages because I thought they looked cool, but while looking at my camera yesterday I realized one was completely bent forward. The handle is at 20-30 degree angle now. This thing is so thin at the top it’s going to bend if anything at all touches it.A camera cage should be stronger than the camera itself, keeping most forces from crushing it. I don.mt even know how this happened but I NEVER dropped it and barely ever take it with me from our studio.Do NOT waste money on this one! It could break your camera! Get the REGULAR Z8 RIG!!!

It fits perfectly the camera and my needs, without costing more: had cages for Canon R6, R7 and R3 which were all more expensive, with basic black polished metal finish and bulkier shapes.The general finish is a very dark brown, semi-mat. There are signatures from Nikon with the leather-like handle inset, the red stripe and the “copper” inserts (it looks like copper rather than gold like). All in all still subtle for me. Others may find it too much.Regardless, it has a very low profile compared to other models/brands.The handle feels good (I have bigger hands). Smaller hands will find that it adds perhaps too much width.I only used the arca mount on the underside and some screw holes topside for a handle. So cannot comment much on other functionalities.The installation is easy and it locks perfectly in place, no slack (had bad experience with other models).I did not like to have to remove the original strap loops but must say that with this solution the camera and cage truly feels like one. And there are loops for mounting straps directly on the cage. My only regret there is that there are “edges” on this loops that may cause premature wear of the straps. Would have been great if it had been smoothed (perhaps a more tedious and costly process).Note: this cage can stay fully in place when operating the battery. One has to “move the lever” for the camera compartment to open fully and just remember to put it back in place when done!

Verarbeitung und Passform einfach perfekt. Die ohnehin schon gut in der Hand liegende Z8 schmeichelt durch diesen Cage sich noch besser in die Hand. Und dann noch der zusätzliche Schutz mit vielen Montagemöglichkeiten für Zubehör.

Der SMALLRIG Night Eagle Z8 Cage Kamerakäfig für Nikon Z 8 kam zügig an.Geliefert in einer Stofftasche in einer braunen Kartonage sicher verpackt.Der Kamerakäfig ist aus einem Stück. Es gibt keine scharfen Kanten oder Ecken. Alles wirkt sehr hochwertig.Er hat unten eine Arca Swiss Platte und zusätzlich viele Gewinde und Möglichkeiten um Zusätze zu befestigen. Außerdem zwei kleine Schräubchen und das passende Werkzeug um die Kamera mit dem Cage zu verbinden.Das Werkzeug ist allerdings nur magnetisch unten angebracht, dabei hab ich doch immer die Sorge, dass dieses schnell verloren geht.Davon abgesehen ist es ein solider Kamerakäfig der absolut seinen Zweck erfüllt.

⭐⭐⭐⭐Der SMALLRIG Night Eagle Kamerakäfig für Nikon Z 8 mit Schnellwechselplatte für Arca-Swiss und Coldshoe-Mount wird mit einem Werkzeug geliefert.Der Kamerakäfig besteht aus Metall (am Griff und der Fläche, wo die Kamera fixiert wird, ist Kunststoff verarbeitet) und ist sehr gut verarbeitet. Das Teil sieht durch das schwarz/graue matte Metall mit goldenen Akzenten richtig gut aus, ist sehr robust und ist sehr hochwertig. Die Z8 passt einwandfrei hinein und sitzt sicher im Käfig.Sie wird zudem teilweise vor Beschädigung geschützt.Trotz des Käfigs kommt man an alle Bereiche der Kamera ran, das Display lässt sich einwandfrei nutzen und der Akkuschacht kann problemlos geöffnet werden.Dank der Standardbohrungen ist das Anbringen von Zubehör wie einem externen Monitor, einem Mikro, LED-Licht usw. einfach und schnell gemacht.Insgesamt ist der Nicht Eagle Kamerakäfig für die Nikon Z8 ein sehr gutes und hochwertiges Produkt, welches nicht ganz günstig, aber trotzdem sehr empfehlenswert ist!⭐⭐⭐⭐

I have a couple different cages for the Z8, but none of them fit as well as the Smallrig Night eagle cage. This cage compliments the Z8’s body perfectly. The Z8 has a unique body design when compared to the other Nikon Z bodies and most other cages just seem to look very bulky and weird on it.This cage has a ton on mounting points, so that you can fully utilize the Z8’s amazing hybrid capabilities. There are two screws, M2.5, that are stored on the cage. These screws are to secure the Z8 to the cage by the strap mount holes. The way Smallrig designed these storage points were great. Those screws are normally in the box somewhere ready to be lost. The cage comes with a tool that is magnetically attached to the bottom.The color and design of the Smallrig Night Eagle cage, makes it just as unique and and special as the Nikon Z8 itself.
