The lamp can be mounted vertically or horizontally. If the lamp installed vertically, the incoming water should come from the bottom of the housing moving up.
For the first time installation of the UV lamp, it is recommended that quartz sleeve is installed in the horizontal position for better sealing purposes.

Sadly doesn't fit one of the models it says it does, finally had to make use of it, doesn't work at all, too small for listed device and wrong design, so useless sadly. Too long since bought to return.

Seals everything up nice and tight with the end caps screwed on. It would be nice if there were some food grade gasket lubricant included or if there were two o-rings rather than a one and top hat gasket. It gave me a little trouble and bunched up when trying to get them positioned before installing the end caps. I ended up putting just a smidge of vacuum grease on both of them before I was satisfied enough to tighten it up all the way. with the end cap. I would recommend something food grade if you this route.
