The bright f/1.4 maximum aperture helps to achieve shallow depth of field and selective focus effects, and also suits working in difficult lighting conditions. The optical layout incorporates both low dispersion and aspherical elements, which help to improve sharpness and clarity by controlling both spherical and chromatic aberrations. A floating elements system is also used to maintain performance throughout the focusing range. A Super Multi-Layer Coating is also featured, and helps to minimize flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions.

I normally utilize my nifty 50. It was my favorite lens, until I bought this bad boy. The crispness of my images, is AMAZING. I feel like it made my photography go to the next level.

I’m sad cuz I was really looking forward to this lens. Autofocus does not work, and Manual focus works but is just not practical for moving targets.

Focus was off from the moment it came out of the box. Have tried to calibrate the lens, doesn’t work. Apparently they sold me one that’s faulty and I should have just purchased one straight from Sigma. Pictures aren’t crisp/sharp.

UPDATE: After contacting Sigma, they informed me that my version was gray box. Nowhere does the description mention this. Luckily, the seller let me return it for a full refund. Buy straight from Sigma!I had rented one of these and thought that it would be worth buying over Canon glass. After a month and a half with it, I'm realizing that it isn't worth it. Even when my camera beeps that focus has been found, randomly the photos are blurry. I am a professional and know how to use my camera. Also, they just aren't crisp. I just can't recommend this one. Pass it by. Unfortunately, I'm too late to return it. I'm going to see if Sigma will help.
