MISADVERTISED.. Just received the pump. This is a 12 volt pump. It says it right on the name plate. I had double checked what was advertised before ordering and it definitely says “24volt pump”. If I hooked this to a 24 volt system it’d be like plugging 120volts AC into a 220v AC plug- itd be smoked in 30 seconds. Waste of time, if I wanted a 12v pump, I would have ordered one. I expect better from anyone handling Shurflo products and Amazon control. Sending back.

Can't say enough about this pump's reliability. (Ab)used it for my garden drip irrigation pump last summer. It pulls water from a storage tank and pumps into Netafim irrigation lines. Once, a fitting in the discharge side popped loose -- pumped a thousand gallons out of the tank and then ran dry for maybe 12 hours. On another occasion, I ran it for hours with the suction valve shut. Oops. In spite of this abuse (my bad!) it still works great. The only ill effects I have seen are perhaps a slight degradation in flow rate at pressure, and perhaps a slight decalibration of the pressure switch range. Oh, and all this was during our Texas summer, with at least two weeks of 100 degree plus temperatures and most of the rest in the 90's. I would definitely buy it again -- in fact, I did! This is my second purchase. I feared that my abuse would ruin the first one so I got this one for a spare. But the original one is still in service!Note: it *is* a little noisy -- any diaphragm pump will be. In the garden, who cares. Indoors you might notice it.

We use this to pump water up out of a 15 foot well to a cabin 150 feet away and about 15 feet above the well level. It works quite well filling our reservoir which lets water run by gravity down to a kitchen sink. It also pushes water through a propane heater for showers. We did have the pump fail after a year and a half of intermittent use which was disappointing (had no use and was unhooked during cold winter months), but I suspect that had to do with it 'chugging' when showers were taken due to not being able to push the water freely. It was also left on one day and was pushing water into a system that was closed so that likely damaged it. We've worked to not tax it the same way and hoping it will be more durable now.

Have been using this pump with a 24 volt solar panel and the solar controller for our garden irrigation system. The pump runs typically whenever the sun shines, so can be continuous for many hours. I have had one in service for 2 years and just bought this one to have a spare if needed.18 foot dug well, pump is in a small “doghouse” next to the well. The pump can fill the 300 gallon storage tank that is about 500 feet away and 30 vertical feet above the pump.I gravity feed with drip irrigation
