In the world of Shimano, the letters XTR stand for the best of the best, and the English-threaded SM-BB93 Bottom Bracket is exactly that. It’s tough, extremely lightweight, and sealed to keep out dirt in the worst riding conditions imaginable. The M-BB93 fits 24mm crank spindles and is compatible with 68mm and 73mm bottom bracket shells.

Easy to fit and super smooth running! Must use BB93 wrench, or ideal socket [set torque] as not the "standard" Shimano size.

Works with M9100 & M9120 cranksets, 3 BB spacers included. BB tool not included, plan accordingly.

A whopping 32g lighter than the aluminum original! Not sure if the listing made it clear, but this version has nylon body and threads, and smaller OD bearings (ID is the same - still fits your crank spindle). The smaller OD bearings look much better as they should be roughly the same size as an aluminum or carbon bike BB OD. My bike is steel (smaller OD) and difference is size is almost unnoticeable compared to the original aluminum version. My original BB-93 stripped the threads on a 5,000 mile tour of NZ somehow (had to remove it to fix my rear pivot), but still stayed in place tightly until I returned home and 500 miles later started making a noise.Just to add as others have, because the OD is different than the original BB-93, the original tool doesn't work. My local bike shop gave me some history that when they first introduced the new version, they included a plastic adaptor that converts the old tool into the proper size for the new bottom bracket, and do not include it any longer. No doubt the adaptor or perhaps a whole new tool is available online, but my bike shop gave me an extra adaptor they had floating around so I was saved the hassle and time getting one myself. So if you read this before purchasing, you might want to take steps before it arrives.Yes, the adaptor is also nylon which has been criticized, but it works fine and helps to avoid the damage a metal tool might cause the nylon BB-93.

Hey when it comes to great mtb items there is no beating the best. Shimano makes quality products and it's hard to beat their items no matter what it is. When I need the best items I think of Shimano. I never had any issues with using quality parts and when I want quality its Shimano i think of first. Keep making quality items and people will keep buying them

This is not as wide a the Prowheel it replaced so I used the spacers provided so beware. The sealed bearings are a must if you ride where water is present. Great price.

Park Tool BBT-9 will not work on this BB93 bottom bracket, the od of the notched ends is 38mm, not the advertised 44mm that the BBT-9 tool is sized for. Also, be careful to make sure the crankset you intend to use is sized for the shell length/width. For example, I have a 73mm bottom bracket shell, which the BB93 bearing will fit to, but the crankset I ordered needs a 68 or 70mm shell. Translation: Hollow Tech II spindle length has to match the bottom bracket width.

I'm using this with a Shimano Saint crankset on my AM rig. This is just as good as the Saint Bottom bracket, but way smaller, and not as flashy. I would pick this over the Saint bottom bracket any day! It's also nice that it included the adapter required so the standard XT/Saint tool will work with this.
