Replaced some older cantilever brakes on my wifes older bicycle and was really very easy. When you take off the old one pay attention to which spring hole your current cantilever uses due to some having more than one hole to choose from for spring tension. My wifes had three, and original one was in the center hole so I put this one in the same one and they work like new!

Great replacement brakes for my son's bike. Went on well, as easy to tune as any other cantilever brakes :)To tune, I actually tighten up the barrel adjuster a bit (so I can back it off later), loosen the bolts for the pads, have someone clamp the brake lever tight, place a business card folded in half under the back half of the pad (this will give the pad an angle on the rim that eliminates squeal), then align the pads right up to the rim (so they are flat and pressing against the rim) and tighten the pads in place. Then I back off the barrel adjuster just enough to the brakes don't rub (and take out the business cards!)

I used these to replace a failed front CT90 on a 20+ year old Trek 820. They took a little time to adjust but are working great. I am very happy with them.

Bought these as a straight replacement. Pretty much the same old thing. I'm refurbishing a Diamondback Wildwood. The plastic spring retainer still remains, hopefully it'll last 20 years like my last one did.
