Not had chance to use this yet, will update. Looks like a quality bit.

Ran through some aluminum with this and had no issues whatsoever ever. Plunging worked great and finish was good. Can't complain. Nice to have the little flute cover with the packaging too.Would be nice to have it a little longer but not too bad.

This worked just fine for a fairly deep cut in aluminum. Lots of small chips. The picture includes a quick cleanup pass after the first deep pass. I don't see aluminum sticking to the end mill, which I have seen in some others, so whatever coating they have applied seems to work well. Still very sharp after this pass.

Product Reviewed: SHAPPRO 5/16 Inch Carbide Square End Mill Aluminum Bits 4 Flute Milling Cutter for $17.TL;DR; Sharp fine grind; VG-Excellent 5 Pack valueI use these end mills for general purpose machining in a home shop. Non-CNC.The value pack of these end mills is in the 5 pack. This is a bench review only but I’ve never been disappointed by an end mill that has such a clean fine grind on it. I broke out the macro lens so you can get an idea of the quality of the finish.I’m happy to see the extra manufacturing package includes extra protection for the flutes in a compact package. No surprises and very good to excellent value. 5 Stars. How I review:Reviews start with 5 stars and I subtract points.- 0 for value but I try to provide guidance-0.5 to -3 for product not matching description e.g. stainless steel is actually plated steel-0.5 to -3 for product missing badly on executionI select products carefully so low (1-3 scores) are rare but detailed comments and critiques almost always are in the review. Most of my reviews come out 4-5 range. If possible I dismantle or destroy items to examine inner workings.

This company makes such nice bits for the money. I've been using these smaller bits in my Logan lathe with an Atlas milling adaptor to work acrylic and nylon plastics. It's cut like a beast! I can make full depth cuts at 2200 RPM with a slow manual feed. These can cut blind, through-cuts and grooves and leave a smooth finish. Nylon does make long chips (shavings) if the feed rate is too high but the bit will keep up. It would probably work better if I could run faster but this is the limit of my equipment. The finish of this bit couldn't get any better, it looks like a mirror and it's really carbide - it will scratch glass freely and is very heavy for its size.

Pretty simple… either a bit works or it doesn’t. This bit works. We have only used it to face aluminum and it left a nice finish.

I'm not a professional so it is possible that this bit has some sort of minor issue I'm not aware of or might not last the longest compared to something from really high-end brands but it came well packaged sharp and seems to do what it's supposed to do.

Excellent performance from a budget priced end mill bit. Four flutes removes the cutting chips effectively and left a smooth finish when I used it to mill a pad in a piece of aluminum stock.
