I’ve been searching for a snare mic clamp that allows me to mic the snare (top), while giving me the freedom to position height over the head, without pushing the mic out too far out into the head.My snare mics of choice are either Beyer m201N, or Beyer M422N.Previously I’d tried the Sennheiser MZH604, which is a no go with the M201 and the only useable position on the small M422 puts the mic far too high above the drum than I like, not bad but I have no other height options…. And way too far out into the head - causing the mic to be in the drummers way. 👎🏼So I dug out a Shure A50D, which was *slightly* better but still had similar issues as the Sennheiser clip.No on the M201, and the M422 sits too high and into the head.Both causing the SMALL M422 to get smashed mid show knocking the grill off and popping the mic out of the clip.I use Shure A56D on Toms but wanted a quick clip in the even snares need to be swapped mid performance.So this would have been my final choice…..So knowing what I dislike about the Sennheiser and Shure’s, I searched for something that looked like it might give me what I need, and these SE VClamps looked like they’d do exactly what I want.No weird angels like the Sennheiser and Shure, just straight up and down adjustment, and doesn’t push the M422 way out over the snare head.Since it’s straight up and down (no weird angle’d attaching point, the M201 works as well. Build quality is fantastic, still the same plastic “clamp” part as the Senn / Shure (A50D) but with a nice metal mic bar, and adjustment knob.My only “gripe”, is that I wish the metal “mic bar” could be slightly farther back off the clip giving me a liiiiiittle more distance away from the head itself.I run EV ND408”s on rack toms with Shure A56D clamps and need more distance for those, if I could adjust distance, I’d ditch the A56D’s for the much easier to setup VClamps.Really, really happy with this purchase and considering grabbing a few more of these things!Excellent!
