These boxes are perfect for storing 12 guage shot shells. I have two boxes that came with 2 trays each with one box holding buck shot and the second holding steel bird shot. They protect the shells, keep them organized and ready when you are.It is possible to get a third tray in each box. These boxes were designed for 3 1/2 inches long shells. Most shells today are actually 2 3/4 inches long with some exceptions of course. If you are storing shells that are 2 3/4 inches long or less, you can buy a third tray and store another 50 shells for a total of 150 shells per box. Although design for shotgun cartridges, it so happens they're about the same size as 12g CO2 capsules. Works perfectly as safe store and transit box. Worth every penny, great value.

I like the case for storing the shells I am taking to the range. It comes with two 50 round trays but can hold another tray so you can get 150 in a can. I actually bought three of these and put 3 trays in two of the cases and used the third to store other things. It is better to buy the complete set instead of the trays because two are almost as much as one set(can and two trays). I am storing 2 3/4 shells but am not sure you can get 150 in a can the same way. The only draw back is the size of lock it takes i lock all my can to protect my ammo from prying hands.my other plastic ammo cans take a larger lock then these do but it does do its job for me. I can easily go through 100 plus shells during a range trip and it is nicer to reach into the can and grab a shell instead of fumbling through a box. Nice storage box, nice range box and easy to organize different shells for a range trip without having to dig through cardboard boxes.

Really good cans at a great price. I did get one without a handle, but Amazon quickly replaced it free of charge. I decided to drill a 3/16" hole on each side of the top tray near the middle and bend up a bail/handle out of a coat hanger so I could lift out the top tray to get at the bottom tray. Took about 4 minutes to bend and install. Make a squared off U about 1/2 inch narrower than the wide of the tray with the legs about an inch longer that whatever size shell you will be storing in it. After inserting the legs through the holes in the tray, bend about 1/2 inch of the legs inward to keep them from pulling out. Easy and quick to do, but the bail should be standard from the factory....

I was a bit leery initially of the quality and fit of one of these cases from some of the other reviews, but once I got it home and loaded it up I was thoroughly impressed. This case sells itself short since it easily fits 150 rounds total in the extra spaces along the side around the top tray and by laying out a layer of shells on their side. Now even then the case still leaves enough room for my folded bandelero. Now keeping in mind that this now is half again as heavy as it would be with 100 rounds, I payed close attention to the lid when I picked the box up a couple of times and I felt just the most minimal flex where the handle attaches to the top and saw and sensed no flex around the edge of the lid.Sometimes different product runs will be better than others but my experience of the solid plastic used in this box is that it is more than adequate and since I wont be around water the thin 'o-ring' rubber is less of an issue but appreciated for humidity control if nothing else. This is the perfect ammo box for shotgun rounds and I am more than pleased with it and will likely get at least 2 more. Great job MTM

This box is really nice. It has two internal trays which you insert shells into individually. I would NOT use this box to hold boxes of Target loads where you're just going to burn through shells, but I found this to be very nice to hold a bunch of Game Loads for hunting. I wouldn't take it afield, but in terms of taking to your camp, it's nice to have it all organized and ready to go. In addition to holding the 100 shells, I was able to fit the following on top of the shells:1 Box of Remington core-lokt Rifle Ammo (with the plastic split apart) on the sides of the top tray1 Box of (Any really) ~.30 caliber Rifle Ammo on top of the top tray1 Federal pack of 100 pcs .22LR gameshok ammo on top of the top trayand you can probably fit one more box of MISC rifle ammo on top of the top tray.So you can fit 100 shells, maybe 30 centerfire rounds, and 100 .22LR rounds, easy, in a dry box. You could hunt pretty much anything with the contents of this box.Feels sturdy, latch works nicely. ONly thing I don't like is there's no place for a lock. Not for theft prevention but just to backup the latch so it doesn't fall open. Hasn't been a problem yet though.

This box is exactly what I needed for carrying shotgun shells and other miscellaneous ammo. I opted to remove 1 tray to allow room to carry ammo for all of my guns. I'm a rec shooter and like to take out 2-5 guns every outting, and this box allows me to carry enough ammo for all of them and never have to worry about running out. The latch is very secure and the box is solid. Interesting camo look, I actually like it. Don't know how well it will do at keeping moisure out, as I haven't went out in rainy conditions yet, but it seems like it would be fine if you had it out in the rain for a bit. Bottom line- the price is right for this box.Update: After becomming annoyed at digging through my top ammo boxes to get to shotgun shells I sawed both trays in half (leaving the notches that hold in the middle of the box) so I could stack 100 shells on one side of the box and my other ammo on the other side. Perfect solution for anyone wanting to carry more than just shotgun shells.
