First thing that will blow your mind is at this price it doesn't come with mounting hardware. No problem, I guess I'll go to Lowe's tomorrow...Then, the bomb hits... it takes high pressure air to inflate the bladders! Can't do it by mouth. No raft inflator is capable. The inflation tools provided don't push the stopper in, so are worthless. At this price, no hardware, no ability to inflate out in the field... They're ridiculous.Run away, ladies and gentlemen.Again, at this ridiculous price! The parts in the box are worth about $40. So unhappy with this purchase I'm embarrassed.

I have a 34 inch wide BKC tandem kayak. Adding Scotty's stabilizers was the best addition I have ever installed on any of my kayaks. For ease of installation go to YOUTUBE and see the excellent videos they have for installation. Now I can stand up and move around when fishing the flats in a very stabile kayak because of the Scotty's'. These are a must especially if you have a narrow kayak. Make sure you read the instructions and or watch the YouTube videos. Have fun.

I have used Scotty products for years on my bass boat and kayak. This is a must have for fishing using a 10' sit on top kayak. Yes it's expensive, but it works. I was going to do a DIY version but I don't want to waste time because it would be better spent out on the water. Works great on my Pelican catch 100

This is by far the easiest and lightweight compared to others. I'm very pleased of its stability and it doesn't seem to slow me down as much as I expected. I'm not so concerned about the stress on my kayak now. Other products I've tried were to heavy and I felt like my kayak was going to crack from the pressure. I also like how easy it is to store. It might take you a couple of minutes to air up one with a bicycle pump with the right attachment. Although it takes two seconds with a air compressor. Don't over inflate cause the sun will expand them some when you out on the water. I check my periodically just to be safe.

I'll state first that this hasn't been used yet, but videos show them in use. This is well made, although fairly heavy, and doubles the effectiveness by including Scotty rod holders that you can use if mounted in the right place. This didn't come with mounting hardware, i.e. screws, nuts, etc. I went to Lowes and bought 10x24 2" stainless steel bolts, zinc washers, and rubber well nuts to fit the Scotty mounts (about $15). On the Hobie Outback the mounts have to fit down in the gear trays to be in a suitable position and there is only just enough space to still be able to reach the release button on the mount. I almost sent this back because of that, in favor of the Hobie Sidekick, but I liked the duel use of the rod holders and stabilizer system. I am a little concerned that with enough tipping force on the pontoons this system could damage the plastic hull or pull the well nuts away, but the idea isn't to try and tip over. FYI - on the Outback kayak you can't reach within the hull to use anything else other than well nuts, so I added marine glue during installation. This system also doesn't come with a pump (for the price everything should be included). My battery powered compressor wouldn't generate enough compression to open the valves for inflation (the springs on the valves are pretty stiff). I took one of the pontoons to Dick's Sporting Goods and tried out one of their hand pumps which worked and I ended up buying the pump ($$ cha-ching once again). Lastly, given the way that Scotty designs their sprockets on the mounts, each sprocket adjusts the pontoons about 5-6 inches, so no fine tuning of the pontoon positions forward, backward, up or down. Mainly this is for my wife to feel safe whenever she wants to accompany me in her Outback on the lake, and maybe when grandkids are using it. Always wear a life jacket!

First - this is bloody expensive for what you get! now that I've said that, they really do work! I was able to stand all day in a cheapo sit-inside kayak while fishing the Florida Marshes. They are stable enough that I was actually able to land a 2' Alligator while standing! - Now for the dislikes... It's really hard to make fine adjustments in order to get these running parallel to the boat... As such, they end up plowing through the water at an angle making it MUCH MORE DIFFICULT to paddle quickly. Also, they are impossible to raise while on the boat... the locking design of Scotty Mounts means that you would have to turn around backward in the kayak leaning awkwardly while releasing the arm from the water which would surely result in a barrel roll into the gator infested marsh. Other systems have a pulley system that you can use to raise and lower them... These, you basically have to choose the angle and you're stuck with it

I had buyers remorse before I even received them due to the ridiculous price but as soon as I sat on my kayak after the install I was blown away. It transformed my kayak into such a stable platform, I couldn't believe I didn't purchase them sooner. I'm 6'3 and 230 pounds and the stabilizers work flawlessly. The pontoon material is the same material used for rigid inflatable boats that are used for white water rafting. It will take a beating and not puncture (but no worries, a patch kit is included). The only issue I found was that they are a pain to inflate without the proper fitting (I used a bike pump and some painters tape). The install was a breeze and the finished product is clean and aggressive. If you enjoy kayaking and want superior stability then this is the kit for you. Tight lines!

Used this for the first time yesterday. Worked excellent, I did not feel unstable like I have without them. I have a Sit-On-Top yak and am a larger guy which makes the yak a little top heavy. With these installed I did not feel like I was going to roll it even once while on the water. Installation was pretty easy and its simple to attach and unattach them from the yak for ease of traveling and storage. VERY happy with this purchase and product even though the price is a little high.
