I have this thing about polishing things. I used to just install an 8" buffing wheel on a standard bench grinder, so they had to fit inside the guard. That's a real issue for polishing since you might need ti get into all kids of places from different angles. So - the buffing machine was created - it looks like a bench grinder with long shafts and no guards. My buffing machine is nominally an 8" buffer, but because the shaft is so long, and I have it mounted on a pedestal, I can use any size I want. Since the speed of the motor is fixed I can get higher speeds like using a 10" wheel like this one. I'm using it for final buffing using light pressure. I have a bunch of 8" Dico wheels and this one is just as nice. Note that it's a wheel that's fully stitched, so it's pretty stiff. They come from really hard and coarse (usually yellow) to only stitched in the center and very soft. This one is pretty much in the middle, maybe towards the harder feel, but it's not coarse and works well wit rouge or other fine polishes.Since showing a photo of a machine with a wheel on it is boring I'm attaching a photo of some sockets I somehow left outside a while ago. Before it snowed. And snowed some more. They all started out looking the same - like the one rusty one i saved for the photo. I wire-brushed these to get the heavy rust off, then black, brown, and red compound (each has its own wheel, but you can get by with one or two). I probably spent a lot more time than it was worth, but as I said at the start, I have a thing about polishing stuff.

This is a nice big buff. It eats up a lot of nice expensive compound. It will get'r done if your motor is up to the task.3/4" arbor means adaptors for most folks. If you're using this on a combo-bench tool, note the diameter which is LARGE enough to mean you must work on a stand or at the edge of a counter, etc. You'll be working slow too, unless you have the HP to spin this thing. But at the right speed, a buff this size can do some amazing efficient work. I like to use buffs like this with red rouge. It will throw threads of course, but they all do. Wear a mask, wear eye protection, wear the right kind of hand protection for buffing, and KNOW YOUR BUFFING TECHNIQUES.A big buff like this can grab you and cause you some serious injury if you fool around or act stupid. But for the rest of us, this is a decent lower-end buff at an affordable price. Get one for each of your critical compounds. You'll thank me later. :-)Five stars, no issues. Good economy buff if you have the right motor.

That wheel is great. I polished my tool box with it and produced a good shine. It fit right on my angle polisher and it lasted for my job and held up well. It's a great value for my money. Saved me a lot of time.
