  • Please don't use the charger as a stand (turn off the radio while charging). Continuous charging reduces the battery's charging capacity and causes it to heat up, shortening its lifespan.

  • Remove it from your radio, and store it in a cool, dry anti-static bag.Charge it monthly, keep the charge level above 50%, If storing a charged battery for two months or longer, recharge it before use.

Acceptable replacement for this radio and quality on par with Mfg. Amazon is a good source for battery replacement.

Works on my VX8 and FT5D. I wouldn't use the belt clip. Battery life seems decent, but I didn't take any specific measurements.

I wanted to give this battery 5 stars, it is a very good duplicate of the original battery. The fit on the radio is snug, and the fit in the desktop charger is also snug. If you use the battery on a daily basis and you are not a long winded talker (listen more than you talk), you might not realize that it doesn't actually deliver the full 2200mAh (16Wh). I have run 3 different battery capacity tests on this battery, and they all gave the same approximate results. The battery that I received is only actually ~1500 to ~1600 mAh (10.4 to 11.6 Wh). I do not have professional level equipment, but my tests are from two different pieces of equipment and yield approximately the same results. I provide my data for reference only. I only have one of these batteries, so I'm not sure if these results are atypical and may only represent this individual battery. The first test in the graph was run at 0.5A load with cut-off voltage of 6.2V and provided 1612mAh. The second test was run with a 1.0A load with cut-off voltage of 6.2V, and delivered 1520mAh. The final test was run on a different battery tester with a 1.0A load and cut-off voltage of 6.2V. The battery was fully charged before each test with a Yaesu CD-41 desktop charger. The starting voltage straight off the charger was 8.2 V. If this battery reached the rated capacity, it would be a 5-star battery.

Quality and appearance of the product is great. Belt clip is an improvement over the original. Price is good.

After fully charging in the factory drop in charger, the battery lasts as long as the factory battery. The fit in the charger is a little tight, but not a real problem, just tighter than the original. On the other hand the belt clip spring is pretty weak compared to the original or to a Batteries America replacement, weak enough that I won't trust it to actually retain the radio on my belt. Knocking off 1 star for the belt clip. If you don't use the belt clip and are only looking at battery performance then it gets 5 stars.

This battery by iFREQTECH is the best aftermarket battery I have found for my Yaesu FT3DR hands down. I bought two. Both fit perfectly. Other aftermarket brands that I have tried have had some fitting issues. Small but there. Both the charge time and the discharge time seem to be exactly the same as the Yaseu. The one thing that I did notice when charging the iFREQTECH battery on the Yaesu factory quick-charger stand is that when you charge an OEM Yaesu battery, the red LED light on the charger blinks slowly in the beginning of the charge and it starts to blink faster as the battery becomes more full, eventually the LED goes solid green when the battery is fully charged. On the iFREQTECH battery, the LED just is a solid red while charging and then turns to a solid green LED when fully charged. The iFREQTECH battery charges properly but I am thinking that Yaesu may have a slightly different charging circuit in their batteries than is used in the aftermarket batteries. My second observation is that one of the iFREQTECH batteries came with both a spring loaded belt clip and a non spring loaded belt clip whereas my second battery from them came with no belt clips. Not a big deal sense I was going to use a Yaesu OEM spring loaded belt clip. Also, the spring loaded belt clip that came with the iFREQTECH battery had about half of the spring tension as the OEM belt clip had. The iFREQTECH belt clip still works fine but in my hones opinion, I felt safer using the OEM belt clip. I just didn't want to take a chance with my FT3DR. All in all, I would suggest this battery to anyone looking for a nice, good priced battery for their HT.
