If spoke tension is not equal, the rim is out of true. This tool helps to make the tension equal on all the spokes, eliminating the problem of fine adjustments all around and saving time both in wheel building and wheel truing. It's far more accurate than my finger using the "ping" test! It's not a bike tool that I use every day, but it's nice to have in my bicycle tool kit.

This is an incredibly niche tool, I used to use a Park Tool tensiometer back in the day and this does the same job. It’s nice that it includes a bunch of spoke wrenches also, it’s got pretty much everything you need outside of a truing stand to build bike wheels.
