This beautiful yarn holder is great for my crafting purposes. It was very easy to put together. I just needed to find the right size Phillips screwdriver. The instructions were also very easy to understand. Once together I put a skein of Easy Peasy yarn on the bar and started crocheting. The yarn fed off like all similar systems where the yarn sometimes needs a little help to rotate and sometimes rotates so fast the yarn winds back onto it in the other direction. The bar rotates smoothly, it's just the way the yarn is wound and the amount of force I use to unwind it that causes this to happen. The shelf is a bit tall for my snips, but it does hold them. Taller scissors would fit very nicely or could hang from the shelf. I really like the fact that this has a shelf. It makes it a nice place to store everything else I'd need while crocheting or knitting. Overall, I'm very happy with this yarn holder.

I've never used one of these yarn tools before and absolutely love this concept! I normally wind my yarn skeins and crochet thread spools on my yarn winder so that I can pull as I work from the inside of the new balled skein. However, if I need to rip out rows, it makes a mess having to rewind the excess in order to begin working from the center again.This tool will allow me to work from the outside of my balled skeins instead, so that if I have to rip out rows I can just rewind that excess yarn or thread right on the outside of the skein. It's such a simple and effective premise, but I guess I've been out of the loop of inventions for awhile.I have other nicely made and creative needlework tools from Savina and have always liked everything I purchase from them in the past. This accessory meets the same quality expectations, and I really look forward to getting back into comfortable knitting and crochet again. Dealing with yarn mishaps is never pleasant and is sometimes off-putting to get started on new projects.The quality of this piece is solid with good bolt construction, and the spindle works effortless when working with a ball of yarn. I also like the side storage for scissors, knitting gauges and rulers, and the leather pad for wood protection. This is a great design, and there are no detectable rough spots for yarns or threads to get snagged on. It is well worth the 24.99 price point for me!

Would have given it 5 except for the fact that I needed to crochet 2 tiny deals to keep it from falling it's still amazing

I may have found the Cadillac of such items. Since I've returned to my knitting and crochet hobby, I've been test driving a number of new "toys" that have entered the scene since I last picked up hooks and needles. Yarn spindles seem to be t thing right now. I had been using a ceramic yarn bowl that I purchased from a famous pottery town a few years ago and was/am still happy with. But then the spindles started showing up in my Youtube feed and I thought, "that seems useful" and gave the dangle spindle a try. It was fine, except with cross-wound yarn. It would slip down the spindle as the yarn cake/ball lost its integrity and you'd have to yank out your next line of yarn. Same thing with the beautiful yarn butler that I purchased on Etsy.But I think this Savina is going to sweep them both. There's so much to like about it.*. It was very easy to put together. You'll need a screwdriver. It literally took me five minutes to put together. The finishing on this spindle is high quality. The screws are brass-fit and countersunk. Bottom has feet to keep it from sliding around your table.*. The wood ALL OVER is smooth and polished and the spindle spins beautifully in its sink.* The end piece is meant as a resting spot for your hooks and needles and has a a suede patch glued into the well, so that they don't slip around and/or damage your needles.* The spindle is long enough to hold 2 cakes a time, or a single bullet skein.Honestly, the attention to detail here is impressive. I'm finalizing a current project and starting a new one. If I have anything further to add, I'll post an update. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I've tried several different yarn holders in my time. I have a yarn bowl that unfortunately the yarn keeps managing to pop out of when the yarn ball spins. I have two different drop/spindle magnetic type yarn holders that unfortunately spin too fast and get the yarn wrapped around the spindle (and subsequently end up with the spindle snatched off the magnet). This one though solves all the problems with honest simplicity. The spindle doesn't pop out of the holder when spinning and the spindle is a perfect fit. It doesn't grate against the rest of the wood causing unnecessary friction but also doesn't spin so fast that it keeps spinning without me.Add to that it is utterly gorgeous. I'm a huge proponent of functionality over beauty but if you can have both, why not have both? The polish on this yarn holder absolutely shines, to an almost reflective nature. It's eye-catching, and the extra storage on the side makes it even better. The wood is smooth and you can tell that this has been crafted with the care of someone who is proud of their Craft.As a weaver, I'm going to get a ton of use out of this yarn holder. I also plan on purchasing a second one to give to my sister next Christmas. I am very happy with this purchase.
