When creating the mold I had a really hard time getting the mold apart to remove my item and I didn't think I would ever get the flask back together without completely messing up my sand cast. It took me almost half an hour trying to get the flash together carefully. I did end up with my cast being a little messed up but made it work. The flask has the typical hole and peg closures but these didn't line up very well.

The tongs are total crap, but everything else seems to be of solid quality.

The crucible works great, and the casting mold and sand work great as well, but the tongs are designed for a SMALL furnace. They are also roughly 3/8" bar, which gives you about 60 seconds to grab the crucible, pour, and set down before they start to deform from heat and weight. The tongs are also designed to grip the crucible from the rim, which is incredibly dangerous, and the handle length is only about 18 inches, so you're likely to smoke your gloves. Rated 3 stars because everything is good except for those tongs, which should never have been made.

I received my flask and sand kit about 2 weeks ago. The sand has a nice consistency to it and I would highly recommend it for beginners. It produces a rather smooth surface and picks up on small details. The tongs that come with it could be a little sturdier, but I didn't buy it for the tongs.
