The Hayward chlorine generator that came with the pool was 4.5 years old and had reached the end of its life. Unfortunately, an OEM replacement is $700. This device was a direct replacement and had what looked like good reviews so I gave it a chance. Installation went just fine and was just like taking the old one out and putting it back. It’s been running for a few days while I’ve been out of town and I checked the chlorine today and it was at 5ppm, so it appears to be running great. I obviously have no idea about longevity, but so far so good at a fraction of the cost of OEM.

I bought this to replace my 6 year old Hayward T-925. First thing i did before installing it was submerge it in a bucket of pool water and plug it in while the old cell was still installed and the pump running. Saw lots of bubbles and the refreshing smell of chlorine. Installed this in place of the old cell and set the control panel to 100%... one week later im seeing algae in the pool. I brought a water sample to the store and discovered i have 0.0ppm of chlorine. It still makes bubbles when you put it in the bucket, and i still smell the chlorine but i guess its just not a significant amount?I decided to return it because upon removing it after one week of use you can already see rust spots on the welds that hold the titanium plates in place. Look at your 4,5,6 year old Hayward cell and i promise you wont see any rust spots! I would not expect these cells to last longer than a few months.
