We keep having to tap on the box anywhere and then it starts working

Trash. Absolute trash. Installed a couple of months ago and worked fine for maybe 5 showers and then the float switch went bad. Doesn't turn on the pump unless you give it a tab. Pulled the whole thing apart to see if there was debris. Nope. Clean as a whistle. My guess is that it's a faulty connection as if I give it a bit of a tap it will engage and kick on. The rubber seal between the bilge pump and the outlet also broke apart after I pulled it out a couple times. So, all in all, this is subpar cheap garbage. I encourage you to look at a different brand unless you're only looking for it to work 5 times or less.

Bought this unit to use pumping the condensate out from my air conditioning system on my sailboat. I installed a thru-hull so the water would exit the boat. Pump did work fine for one year. Twice I forgot to open the thru hull and so water filled the plastic cabinet housing the pump, so the pump was covered by water. Last year the pump worked fine. This year the pump stopped working reliably. Or rather, you had to tap it and shake it to make it work. I pried off the glued on pump lid out of curiosity and found the switch contacts for the float switch to be burned up. Also water came pouring out of the pump where the float switch is housed. This is a very cheaply made pump that cannot be submerged at all. Not really good for use on a boat. I am tossing it and finding something else constructed better.

I guess my original had a separate float and I didn't think it would be a difference. This thing has to fill up before it pumps so it standing water basically at all timesUpdate float obviously got stuck on, burned up motor. Trips breaker instantly. No response from these guys I purchased it from

The unit is well made, I love the snap on top. The instructions are almost unreadable.
