Better: Series 9420/9490 features cabinetry formed from 5/8-inch compressed wood with square-edge corners and a laminate finish with a solid fiberboard back for strength and rigidity. I've put off buying a mail sorter for my classroom forever because I didn't want the crummy cardboard shelves that most of them have. This has particle board, so way sturdier. It still has the "nail the cardboard" back that I don't love, but it was pretty sturdy before I put the back on. Overall, pleased so far. Will have to see how it stands up to classroom use!

The organizer is about the average quality you would expect for this price point. Particle board with an overlay. Shelves are sturdy cardboard. Seems sturdy enough. The downside-- the directions were absolutely horrible to follow. None of the actual pieces were labeled, so you have to guestimate which piece goes where, by lining up holes, etc. The written directions were minimal to none, about one sentence for each stage. It's also hard to identify which type of fastener goes where because the pictures are so small, and it doesn't describe where in the written directions. I've put together many pieces of furniture and the directions for this were by far the worse. Nevertheless, it fits the bill for its purpose.

I’m a teacher, I got this for my classroom! It was SUPER hard to put together, and I’m sad to report that it’s super cheap. The drawers continually fall off (please see my image), and the shelves fall down as well. I wouldn’t recommend this item! Find something else!

I have very limited space in my room - this is BEAUTIFUL. It's super sturdy (apples to oranges with the cardboard ones I've been using in the past), it's spacious, the slots are adjustable, the drawers slide fabulously.It's perfect.

This is the worst product ever. It came with terrible instructions. Which led to me putting pieces on the wrong way. Then the little blue self flying pegs were stuck. Some broke off while putting the shelves on. I took a little break and got it to a sturdy point and the whole thing had fallen over. The cardboard for the back was crooked and didn’t even fit. I was able to return but had to pay a restocking fee. Disappointed in the company and amazon.Oh yeah, called the company and she said “follow the directions”. I went step by step and did exactly what it showed. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY . . .

Expect a few dings on pieces, but otherwise this is a solid pressed wood piece of furniture which works very well for organizing things that fall in its specs. I have 4 of these now, and never had any trouble assembling them.One unit did arrive with a break in one of the boards: I contacted Safco customer service, and, after seeing pictures and a product receipt, shipped me a whole new unit. I did not have to ship back the old unit, as older reviews have warned. The signature block of the customer service rep stated they changed their customer service stance in 2015, and I know I was pleasantly surprised. The new unit was shipped out in 2 day shipping, and the whole customer service part was completed in a single day, so this is a quick turnaround in the rare case that you do have structural damage to your piece. The replacement unit had no structural damage.
