This small set works like a charm for situations when you need a decent inexpensive set - for kids, travel or beginners. Colors are fine for a basic set, but they might not be saturated/vibrant enough for people who know how to painting. I've seen better wood material (this one chips easily if pencil sharpener is dull), but again for a basic kit quality is adequate.

Colored pencils have been around for decades. I've found they vary in quality quite a bit. This set by S & E is a winner.The set includes 12 different colors that arrived in a nicely decorated box. The pencils themselves have a thin circumference and therefore, are easy to grasp. The leads are soft and color/sketch nicely. You can vary the width of the color by changing the slant at which you hold the pencil. The colors are cheerful and vibrant.At $6, this is a great set. The only thing you'll need is some sort of pencil case to hold them after removing from the box.

These are a very basic set of colored pencils that a casual artist or student might use. They only have 12 colors, but that would be sufficient for elementary students and basic use.The colors are ROYGGBBIVBrGyBl, or Red, Orange, Light green, Dark Green, Light blue, Dark Blue, Indigo, Violet, Brown, Grey, Black.I did a test with them on a standard piece of copy paper, and was able to get reasonable light/medium/dark tones from each color. However, several of the colors were difficult to get truly saturated tones from without the lead crumbling. In particular dark green, dark blue, and especially violet and gray. Those are more crumbly and one would have to be careful when trying to do fully saturated color tones.Otherwise I feel these are good quality. I prefer the slim size of the pencils and the colored ends for easy identification is a nice touch. I found them easy to sharpen without too much breakage or effort.One star off for the slight inconsistency in ability to get fully saturated tones, and the more delicate nature of a couple of the colors.

My grandkids love to color, and they prefer colored pencils to markers. That suits me just fine! I'm not a fan of messy markers. These colored pencils draw cleanly, the the color part (not lead anymore, so I don't know what to call it. Graphite?) goes up the center so when I sharpen them, I don't lose an inch or two of pencil trying to get the color to appear again. The kids loved these and dove right in to test them. All thumbs up around here! Good value!Off to print out more coloring pages of their favorite characters!

I like testing different brands of colored pencils. Since I'd never heard of these, I decided to give them a whirl. I didn't do a proper swatch sheet, but did try small patches of color. They didn't seem that soft, although most of the colors were pretty vivid (the exceptions were gray & light blue, which I thought looked washed out). I received only one broken point, but was still able to use it. The lead looks standard #2 pencil size, but the tops are covered, making it hard to judge. They're not a bad value (approx. 50¢ per pencil) & are actually better than some other brand name pencils. Good to stuff in busy bags for long waits in the doctor's office!

These were all great gift for students. They absolutely loved them. These color pencil sets had bright colors and great durability. Each box had a nice arrays of colors to work with. These were perfect for beginning artist and Journaling. Great value in receiving multiple sets. They are made of quality as the weight of the pencils are made of substances and they areive sharp. These were a great gift for artist, teachers.. for anyone.
