Came in a nice, thick plastic bag inside a cute little tub. (Not important, right? But i love nice packaging :) Used it on an outdoor black steel gazebo - perfect! Rust all gone, looks almost like new. Very happy, odor not strong at all, dried quickly. Easy to spread with a brush, cleaned up with water. Great value for the money for sure, works very well. Seems like this will add years and years to the life of our pergola. Note: What's really great is this is not just a cover-up - it's also a RUST CONVERTER. That means it can help turn rust back into steel... For us, it did!

I tested this out on a car hauler trailer that had a couple of spots of rust due to some damage. I also applied it to a uhaul trailer hitch assembly on the back of my pickup truck. In both cases it was easy to apply and I have seen no issues so far with the winter almost over. I will update after some more time has passed.

The paint seems okay but leave out the small brush and vinyl gloves and put more paint in the bucket!

This paint works as intended. I use this in the basement bathroom that had water damage. There were rust on all the metal frames after we knocked down the drywall. We sand away the rust and apply this paint. It looks fabulous.

This is paint is good stuff. It's not like POR15 it's more like a regular paint that prevents rust. It's water-based, so it's easier to clean up and thin out compared to other stuff I've tried. I'm using this on an old rusty truck, and so far, the rust has stopped. It hasn't faded or gotten hazy/milky in the sun/UV light. It's working a lot better than the other rust reformer spray I got at a big box store. It takes 24 hours to fully cure. Don't try to push it, you won't be happy. Overall I'm pleased with this paint.

Coated a rusty exhaust with this and it covers very well. It also came with a cute little paint brush and some gloves. Good deal for the price.

This rust converter paint is a good idea for tackling rust, both as prevention and to repair already rusted parts. The water based formula is both a rust reformer and a metal primer, helping me save time and effort. The semi-gloss black finish looks new and polished while providing a durable layer of protection against further rust and corrosion. I find that the coating also covers any discolouration that was there before.Application is straightforward, just brush or roll it onto the affected area. I only needed one coat for most areas, 2 areas for bumpier textures. For the best results, you do need to prep the area, like removing loose rust and sand down uneven surfaces before application. The paint adheres well and dries quickly, forming a strong protective coat. It’s especially helpful for restoring metal items like fences, tools, and other surfaces, especially those exposed to environments prone to moisture or harsh weather conditions. The anti-corrosion and anti-oxidation features make it ideal for long term protection as well. The brush it comes with applies the product well. I ordered it for DIY home repairs, and it does the job. This rust converter is practical and reliable. I recommend it.

I’ve seen the paint that when poured or sprayed on a rusty object, stops the rust and turns the finish into a milky, streaky shabby chic look. I wasn’t interested in that. I have some old tools that have some rust, but are still structurally sound and usable. After a quick pass over each with a wire wheel on my angle grinder to knock off the actual granular rust, each item still had surface rust that just doesn’t clean off, and regular paint won’t solve it.I took all of those tools that I’d prepared (tire iron, pry bar, iron rakes, shovels) and painted those with this Rust Converter Paint. Each tool got 2 coats, and I used a brush because I didn’t want to have to clean a paint sprayer (and I am a wasteful overpainter). I still have some left over after the 2 coats, and I’m very happy to leave this 5 star review because the metal parts of the tools look great - included some screws that had surface rust. Now I have to work on the handles to make them match!

Reviewing: Rust Converter Paint - 16oz Water-Based Rust Reformer & Metal Primer, Semi-Gloss Black Rust Preventive Paint for Metal, Anti-Rust Coating Rust Encapsulator Paint for Maximum Rust, Corrosion Protection I'm in the process of rebuilding a large antique backhoe loader, and used this to stop the rust primarily in the cab, but on some spots outside the cab as well. I couldn't find a drying time anywhere on the package or the listing, so I reached out to the seller, and got a reply within 12 hours or so*. Based on their answer, I had just enough time to use the converter paint and let it dry before it started raining for 48 hours straight (it is a water-based paint, so their accuracy would be critical). As it turned out,it was fully cured within their time frame, and the rain had no ill affect on my work.*FYI: The full cure time is 24 hours. I wanted to be able to work it into the pitted surfaces, so I applied it with a brush vs spraying it. Even after diluting it with water to their maximum recommendation (10%) it was pretty thick. Other similar products allow for a 20% dilution, so I figured I'd try it out. I'm glad I did - after adding ≈20% water I had just barely enough in this size container to do one coat on the inside of the cab, with a little left to cover the worst spots on the outside. The surfaces I was painting were a mixture of badly rusted and unrusted (but well-tarnished) steel, with patches of the original yellow painted steel without any rust. As expected, the product immediately went to work on the rusted areas leaving a uniform black coating. Surprisingly, it worked just as well on the tarnished but unrusted areas. As expected however, it did little more than leave a thin protective film of streaked black over the (yellow) painted surfaces. I'm sure if I was spraying it it would have had a more uniform surface. Anyway, like clockwork, it started pouring rain just as the drying window ended, and you know how that turned out. So far I am happy with how well this seems to have worked. Only time will tell how well it holds up. In order to get the most information out of one application, I left some surfaces uncovered, some I painted over with Rust-Oleum, and a couple of others I covered with a layer of epoxy. If it starts rusting through in any of these areas within the next year or two I'll come back and update this review.Application date was 11/22/2024.
