Fits across every cup and mug we own with room to spare. Haven’t tried with a beer stein. Note: odd bits of tea leaves may hide in crevices where mesh meets body but easily removed with sprayer, if your faucet has one, or small brush.

I bought this for my brother who likes to make coffee by the cup and puts a scoop of coffee in this and pours hot water through it. Saves him from having to buy paper filters.

I hate to admit it, but we bought this not for tea, but to use in the shower. This was the only strainer that is perfectly 4 inches with a fine mesh. We had a huge problem with hair going down the drain and clogging it up. This strainer was the perfect solution and the problem is now gone!

What is sheerness for a tea infuser rating?? Anyway, this was the widest one I could find to sit on my Lang mug after the one it came with fell apart. I still wish I could find a replacement. This one is mesh that is sturdier than most probably. The edge barely sits across my mug... Any smaller and it would slip in because it is already slightly tilted on there. I also wish the basket was wider to give the tea leaves more room to expand and steep. I'm sure I'm just picky because of the extra wide size of the one my mug came with originally, but I really wanted one closer to that. The little folds in the mesh are pretty tight and after a couple months of daily use, I still don't have any issues with cleaning the leaves out under the faucet, so that's nice.

I travel extensively and the one pleasure I enjoy is having tea "my way" and to achieve that, I take my favorite loose teas with me wherever I go. But most teapots available in hotels today lack an internal strainer, so it's been a challenge, until I found this perfect strainer. It's the perfect accessory to strain the tea as I pour it into my cup. Easy to pack alongside my tea, easy to clean just by rinsing, and now a "must" for all my travel.

This is my third one of these. The first, I bought in a shop in Oxford, England. The second I bought online here, and then I bought a third because my mother wanted it. It is clean and simple. Hangs on the edges of a cup. It is smooth, clean, no fancy stamped design for gunk or crud. The little drip cup makes everything tidy.

I use this every day at work. As others have mentioned, its purpose is for straining not steeping. I steep in a thermos and then pour through this unit with it straddled over the cup. Works very well. It's true that some leaves get stuck up under the lip. Since I use it at work, I clean all my tea stuff before I leave every day and in the morning, the stray leaves caught in the lip have dried. I just swish them out with my finger. No big deal. The mesh is fairly stiff and should last a long time. I have been using it for about five months so far.

Strainer itself is fine. Plenty wide enough for large mugs. However, there was not a drip cup in my shipment. I'm not sure if this was an oversight in packaging or if the product description is wrong. I didn't care about the drip cup enough to follow up with the seller.
