I'm using these reeds with a Yanagisawa soprano sax, Vandoren mouthpiece, and Rovner Dark ligature. Previously I had tried Vandoren traditional 2.5, and Hemke 3.0 reeds. The Vandoren reeds were too bright sounding. The Hemke 3.0 reeds are mostly good, but slightly inconsistent. So far, the Rico Reserve 3.0 are the best reeds I've used for soprano sax. I had read some comments that Rico Reserve are stiffer than than expected, but I didn't find that to be the case. They may be just slightly stronger than Hemke 3.0, but that's what I wanted. No break-in was necessary, they play well right out of the box, with clarity and good tone quality.
