I found the fastest and easiest way to uninstall the broken cables and install the new cables on an 203 S10 was to:1. Use a recip saw to saw off the outer pin head by laying the blade flat against old cable connector and saw off the pin head. After the pin has been cut flush with the old cable eye hole and if it won't come out with a couple hammer blows, proceed to step 2.2. Drill out the old pin with a twist bit that's slightly smaller than the pin. Knock out the what's left of the pin if it hasn't fallen out already.I initially started to grind off the pin head and thought "Cool, sparks" and this isn't the best way.Only negative is that the new pin wobbles because it is longer than the old pin

Cable is about 3" shorter than advertised overall length of 18.5". Does not fit 2003 Chevy S3, as advertised. They also sent me an open package from which a previous "buyer" had already themselves to some of the necessary installation hardware. Now the joy of waiting in line at Staples to return...

Need to know that the c clip is not the right size. I ran to local auto store and got some. Other than that work just fine for my 2000 S10.

Fortunately, I had all the tools to DIY. A pneumatic cutting wheel and electric drill with some good bits were invaluable on my model tailgate. Once installed (and both sides were previously broken), good as new. I have no idea what a shop would charge but it wasn't terribly hard, just time consuming and annoying. A little cussing under my breath at the GM designers made me feel better.
