This is a non functional backlite keyboard. There are lights behind the keys but the keys are not transparent. It is no better than a non backlite keyboard. In fact, it is worse than a non backlite keyboard when the backlight is on as the light coming around the keys is objection in low light and does not help identify the keys. The keys do function as well as the original non backlite keyboard. Just turn the backlite off as it does not function

Give 2 stars because:- Good: fast shipping. Professional packaging.- Bad: the keyboard doesn’t work for my T580 thinkpad.I own T580 touch screen thinkpad and recently the “i” key got loose and it is annoying, so I decide to replace it. I ordered this one and got it on time. After installation, laptop refused to boot even no BIOS logo. It works normally when I put old one back. So finally I pick the “i” key from this to replace it on the old, kind of solve my issue.

I paid extra to get the back-lit keyboard and the back lighting stopped working shortly after the keyboard was installed.

I had to replace my previous keyboard because of a spill, and this one works perfectly. I like the backlight a lot; sometimes the caps lock like is a little hard to see, though.
