Super responsive, durable djembe. Produces a great ringing sound, and it has a lot of resonance. This is a great size, to take around with you, not heavy, and you can play hard on it. Holds up to humidity and rain. No fuss, pre tuned. Have no problems/worry when it comes to letting friends and kiddos smack on it, as long as they arent stabbing it with something, they aren't going to damage it. When it comes to size, I for sure wouldn't want to go any smaller than this 10 inch head. I'm petite and 5ft4. My hands are not large, if they were, I wouldn't purchase anything smaller than a 12in head. For those new to hand drumming, and interested in recommendations... My personal preference is to have this remo djembe to get the feel and ear for the sound, because it is super responsive. Also the size makes it super easy to get a feel for how to hold it, because it isnt too heavy/bulky. Then when you feel you have "out grown" it, keep it, but add a key tunable 14inch remo mondo, with the skyndeep fiberskyn head. It has an entirely different feel and sound, and it allows you more room to explore different sounds. I say to still hold on to this smaller djembe because you will want to go back and forth between the two. I dont think one is better than the other because they just sound and feel so different. This one is more versatile than the 14inch remo mondo, with the skyndeep fiberskyn head. The bigger one gives you a full bass, but it is heavy, and heavier to balance/hold between legs. Unless you have really big hands, this drum is the perfect drum for beginners, and no it is not kid sized. This is a full, mature sounding djembe hand drum. Does it beat out an authentic djembe with a real skin head? No, but I like to play in all elements, and this drum I don't have to worry about destroying. Or paying to have it rope tuned by someone who can do it.

Sounds and tones are incredible. Perfect for my intentions of traveling with and using in drum circles both in and outdoors.Very happy about this purchase. Highly recommend.

Pretty decent sound for this type of drum. Most of the ones I've played with synthetic heads have a lot of overtones and are too bright. Bought this to use with a kids group and it plays and sounds a lot more like a traditional djembe. Small size and light weight great for kids or as a travel drum.
