This was for my 2007 Sportsman 800...given the decent reviews I had high hopes that this would be a more cost-effective caliper than directly from Polaris ($440 + tax). Unfortunately, I was way wrong. To start with, the slide bolts were way over-torqued at the factory, so removing them from the caliper bracket probably lead to, or at least had a hand in the eventual failure I experienced. After I put my own brake pads on and mounting the caliper, I started torqueing all of the bolts. The slide bolts were last, and one I did manage to get to the necessary 35 ft. lbs. The other one stripped the threads of the caliper bracket somewhere around 30 ft. lbs.It took me 15 minutes to remove the slide bolt, after which I tried using the slide bolts from the old caliper, which didn't fit - the new caliper was ever so slightly smaller than the original. I then tried using the original caliper's anvil and that was the same. The difference is so small it's like maybe one is metric and the other is standard...unfortunately even such a small difference matters a lot. Finally, the caliper came without the slide bolt retaining clips as well as the retaining bushings that sit in the anvil body.

Only works with banjo fitting brake lines. I do not have banjo fittings, but threaded fittings. If you have conventional screw-in type brake lines, don't buy this one, because the female threaded for the brake lines to screw into the housing are drilled WAY too deep. It'll never seal and brake fluid will spill out quickly. It's a shame because this would have been a good quick replacement. Found it cheaper to simply get an o-ring kit and rebuild the old caliper.

I got the whole assembly cheaper than just the brake shoes from the polaris dealer.

Looks good, but won't work with my oddball 2002 Sportsman 700 Twin. I am currently looking for a set of hoses with Banjo on the end what would work.

I bought an abused '09 Polaris sportsman 500HO that had a damaged rear caliper, this replaced it for about a third of the cost of an OEM unit. The install went fine and the caliper seems to work fine, but after a few weeks of use I had the bolts fall out and they're not the same as the OEM ones ( I think the OEM is SAE, this is metric ) and I had to find some new bolts. FYI, they're M8x1.25mmx25mm and you can get new ones at most big box hardware stores.Locktite the bracket bolts with locktite blue.

This unit works great. Only issue I had was hooking up the brake lines. I had to grind down the housing so the brake lines would tighten up. But it was easy to do and the unit works as it should!!

If you need this caliper for an 04 sportsman 600 without banjo bolts do not buy it, it won't work. The inlets for the brake lines are an 1/8 inch longer than the factory line bolts, so the bubble flare cant touch and after it bottoms out they pour fluid. I haven't even found a solution yet. It was even missing the 2 clips that keep the caliper bolts in place.
