I have now used used the gimbal for a couple of applications.The machine vision application uses a camera on a robot to look for April Tags ( coarse QR code) . There is lots of motion blur in vertical axis and the gimbal reduces it by more than a factor of 10.The navigation app could not afford cost of 3 axis Fiber Optic Gyro (FOG) . The app only needed yaw axis for dead reckoning. The gimbal effectively stabilized a single axis FOG making it as accurate as the solution provided by 3 axis FOG.

Screwed around trying to find software then I noticed it was supposed to be already installed. Havent flown it yet, but it does keep the gopro level.

The unit worked well when only connected to the battery. Then, when I connected my RC Receiver, it malfunctioned. Now, when only connected to the battery, the unit makes a high-pitched squealing sound and the motors move about randomly.

Ab said bgc 2.2, it's not, the board is stamped base cam, basecam software said it's not. The gimbal cannot be set up for smooth operation, it's jittery and makes a lot of noise.. There is no software so far for this.Basecam said it is a clone and their clone gui won't work. I waited to long to use it so I can't send it back. When I seen basecam on board I thought it was real. Don't buy unless you want to spend hours trying to get a bootloader to work on it. There may be software to fix it but I can't find it. The firmware is 0.53b4, if you can find gui for that then maybe. After searching there is a reset button on the board. Plug in usb hold reset button untill yellow light flashes. After you realease button yellow light turns green. Go to basecam 8 bit boards and download 2.22b gui and it will work, I set mine and now I'm happy with it

Works as advertised. However it should be mentioned that motor power needs to be increased for it to function correctly.

Very well made. Definitely need to go to BCG and download software to tune the gimbal and set it up. Once setup this is an awesome gimbal . Be aware that it is heavy, IIRC its about 350 grams. Perfect for a 450 hex copter or above. That said I use it on a 450 Quad but at reduced battery life. If looking for a lighter alternative, maybe look for an older Tarot at about half the weight.
