I've found that OEM parts for Mercruisers are the best for replacement. The bad cable was an aftermarket. Bad move.

the factory cable is expensive, at nearly 2-3x the cost of the knockoffs, BUT, this one actually fits, and likely wont have the end pop off after 10 hours of use leaving me in the middle of the lake with no forward gear. Some things are just worth the extra money to get something that WORKS, and not just something that "kinda works"
