I like this clutch because it really does save time on assembling in disassembling the high hat. This thing is pretty tough too. I have played over 100 shows with it and I move it around in a hardware case where it gets bumped up against other stuff all the time. I do not baby this clutch. I’m really glad to have it though. To customize it a bit I may change out the felts for ones that are a little bit stiffer- those are my preference. Also- I so far I have had no problem using this clutch on other Drummer’s high hat stands, seems the diameter is wide enough to fit most high hat stands.

I have tried soooo many clutches in the last 9 months since I started drumming. First I want to say these look just like the Gibraltar models I have seen. I think they might supply Gibraltar, Not sure thougo. I have bought other Ross Percussion items, in particular cymbal stackers. They seem perfectly well made, and again, almost identical to Gibraltar.THE QUICK RELEASE IS INGENIOUS! Very simple really, but why doesn’t everyone do this (assuming patents don’t exist?). Very simple to use. Push in, 1/4 turn, off. The spring tensioner is so much easier to deal with than the typical two locking nuTA. I have a few Pearl drop clutches, and they are the best I have ever used. But that is not what I needed for my jazz kit. I wanted a standard clutch. It’s easier to use this quick release than the Pearl though. The spring adjustment is really good. Just a simple twist to tighten or loosen. LOVE THIS! Thank you Mr. Ross.

I got this to make switching out symbols quick and to keep them secure. if this is what your looking for then this is for you! I've tested it on a 8mm hi hat pole and it fits perfect. For the price your going to get a very durable and high quality hi hat clutch that you'll keep going back to again and again! :D

This clutch has a locking nut that cannot come loose and it’s adjustable from on top and a spring keeps that adjustment tight. Great product!

This Ross HH clutch is remarkably well thought out. Its FIVE STARS the whole way with one suggestion held to the end.I've got OEM clutches from my DW-5000 two legged stand on my live kit plus a run of the mill no name clutch on my Premier stand at home. The DW clutch sits in a box as I've replaced it with a quick release Gibraltar model. I bought this one to carry in my kit bag. I'm REALLY IMPRESSED.The Ross is just as quick as the Gibraltar but has the great advantage of being able to easily and quickly tighten or loosen the top HH while it's mounted on the stand. Made in Taiwan so I even feel good about supporting their economy with my purchase. The clutch is well made all the way around.This clutch will work with both a 6mm and 8mm rod, so no problem there. What I WOULD like to see is a version made just for the 6mm rod stands (Yamaha etc) that's designed to accept pre-1958 7/16 mounting holes on hats like old A and K Zildjians. It wouldn't be hard to downscale the design at all and jazz players wouldn't need to bend over backwards rigging up their stands or even drilling out their (rather valuable/collectable) cymbals.That last paragraph is just a thought and doesn't budge my 5-star assessment one bit. Thumbs up guys!

This is the easiest clutch I have ever found. I really like the design and most importantly it is quick to setup since you don’t have to unscrew and screw it back to attach a hi-hat cymbal. It simple is a turn to unlock and insert the cymbal then lock it back. I’d recommend this for a noob drummer like me.
