how the PTM7950 thermal pad works ?

At room temperature, thermal conductive phase change materials remain solid and cannot discharge air from the interface (Picture 1)

As the temperature increases, the phase change thermal conductive material becomes softer and the air at the interface begins to be discharged, and the temperature also begins to decrease (Picture 2)

When the phase change thermal conductive material reaches the phase change temperature(45°C), it becomes liquid and can greatly wet the interface, discharge the air inside the interface, reduce the interface thermal resistance, and transfer heat as much as possible; When the device is in a non working state, the phase change thermal conductive material becomes solid again, but maintains 100% complete wetting of the interface (Picture 3)

Q: Why did I receive it in blue, picture is gray?

A: the thermal pad is gray, but protective film is blue or clear, please remove the film before using

Q: Can it be used together with silicone grease?

A: No, it needs to be used separately to replace silicone grease

Q: Can it be used in multiple layers?

A: No, it can only be used in a single layer. The standard thickness for applying silicone grease is 0.25mm.

If it is too thick, it will affect the heat dissipation effect

Q: Why is the cooling effect not obvious when used on desktop computer at the beginning?

A: it is phase change thermal pad, when the thermal pad becames liquid in high temperature,

it will have good heat dissipation, you can use the computer in high termperature 2-3hours

and repeat many times to discharge air, the effect will be better.

Q: How durable is the 7950?

A: On mobile core gaming laptops, durability is very outstanding, and there will be no significant

This was a lot easier to install because of the item in the kit. Make sure to clean both the cooler and processor with alcohol wipes. The kit came with these stick on pull tabs make sure to put them on both sides of the protective film to make installation easier. I didn't need to cool mine before installing but if you have trouble installing i would stick it in the freezer for a few minutes. So far with the cooler and this ptm my cpu has not reached over 70c yet.

Was looking for a liquid metal replacement for my Asus Strix Scar 18 gaming laptop. This did the trick. Better than Artic mx-4 and mx-6. Highly recommend.

Dropped temperature of an AMD laptop CPU by 30 C (no kidding!). My interpretation is that laptop CPU has a small gap between cooler and CPU surface, thus the thermal paste never worked well (this is not the case for Desktop CPUs, which allows for pressure on the CPU surface, thus much smaller/no gap between the cooler and CPU). The PTM7950 works well because it is a very efficient thermal pad and filled the space well. At >45C, the solid become "paste" like and works magic.

Package contains PTM7950, a screwdriver, brush, ethanol wipes, green sticker for applying the pads, finger gloves.It was a bit hard to cut and apply comparing to just using regular Artic mx6 thermal paste. but the performance is on par with liquid metal.In my case the additional equipements was not that usefull as I had IPA solution and tweezers to correctly apply it.If your device previously used thermal paste instead of liquid metal, PTM7950 will make a difference.In terms of cost, its a bit expensive. if youre on a budget, go for artic Mx6 but you may need to reapply it after a year or two.The shipping experience was weird. the seller created the shipment two times, one on the date of order, second at the delivery date. The shipment was late by 3 days from expected delivery. This may be due to importing, i dunno.

As a long time PC builder, I finally did the forbidden thing and left the film on my new Arctic Liquid Freezer III. I thought this was a low quality pad until I went to switch it out for thermal paste. Here's 5 stars for my mistake.

I used this on an Intel NUC Compute Element, it has a bare die laptop chip (i9-9980HK equiv Xeon) that draws anywhere between 85w-105w, Even after repasting 3-4 times with MX-4 the temps always spiked to 99 degrees and it thermal throttled usually to around 3.6ghz. After installing this (only used about 1/8th of it) my temps dropped to 85 degrees with the CPU pulling 20 more watts than before. Fan noise is also down substantially. I was skeptical at first but this really does wonders, and it this price I can't complain.Installation was easy, put it in the fridge for about 20 minutes and cut it out with a knife and used tweezers to pull off the film.

Leider war ich zu doof die größe des pads zu checken, weswegen ich ein wenig überrascht war als ich gesehen hab, dass das pad nur so klein ist. ansonsten Super produkt -> Laptop hatte davor mit frischer paste maximal ca. 65 grad, jetzt sind es nur noch max 60

My RX 6750 XT had major problems with junction temps routinely hitting >105°C and the delta was 40+, even after re-pasting with Arctic MX-5 multiple times. This worked like a charm, my delta is now under 20 and the junction temps never exceed 80°C even after a prolonged FurMark run. It's a bit fiddly to install (the plastic sheets are hard to remove, much patience is required) but the results speak for themselves.

I bought this for the steam deck to see if I could drop the temperatures as I've heard good reviews on this phase changing thermal paste. All I can say is the photos literally show proof that this stuff works, I have added a before and after photo, game tested was Ragnarok.CPU temperature dropped about 7cWhilst the GPU drop a crazy 13cLiterally looks for your self. I'm very happy with this purchase and will definitely be buying more for anymore future projects of mine :)
