I grew up using exclusively Spencer log tapes so when I found this similar style without a nail in the end of it, less expensive, and easy for employees to use. It was a clear choice to use these in my tree service business. We keep one in each truck and we use them around the sawmill. The metal of the tape is accurate and very comparable to Spencer.Perfect size and function50' is great for repeating up to 45' but if near 50' often 75' tapes or even 100' tapes are available but theyre bigger and heavier.

I purchased two of these retractable tapes for layout on a large solar array. The metal tapes do not stretch as much when pulled tightly under normal temperatures. The self retracting feature is a time saver. They tapes are of metal construction, made in the USA and have replaceable tapes available. These tapes came very quickly. I like the size of the tape and the clip. I will likely lose it or get it stolen before i wear it out.

The craftsmanship is good overall, but the assembly needs better quality control. The tape was over tightened during assembly and when pulled all the way out it was not attached due to breaks in the thin metal. Not good for hard use.

It’s very sturdy and can withstand abuse. Very accurate and good value for the price.

I measure structures for a living. All day, all outdoors, all weather, all conditions. I've burned through dozens of wanna-be tapes of every brand over the years and this is the only one I'll ever order now. It is also completely repairable - since no tape run through mud/sand/water/snow/manure will last forever - I appreciate being able to replace the tape-only. The belt-loop fastener is fool-proof and reliable, never falls off. I get in and out of my truck a hundred times a day and this stays clipped on the whole time, flexes easily up and out of the way as I sit down and the hook folds flat so it doesn't tear up my seats. My mentors in the business have been using this same tape measure for decades since it was Spencer Logging tapes.

Bought this Model 950B Protape 50 footer on Amazon Feb 2019. The web page listed it as the updated version for @ $33.00 vs the older model which is still offered at around $45.00. I looked at both to compare and could not see a difference as far as the more expensive one having more bells and whistles than this one. I could only assume they could make this one cheaper somehow, but just couldn't see the difference between the two. They appeared to be identical . natural I received this tape in the good old fashion two day delivery that Amazon is noted for, which has to be the 8th wonder of the world. I must say the build quality, the heft, and materials is impressive to say the least. I know a lot of loggers use the Spencer tapes, but this tape for the money is spot on. Since I bought this to use logging my own property it will more than suffice and offer years of service I am sure of that. The only thing I noticed that I would like to see modified and may be I am wrong is the tape itself and this is why, but certainly not a deal breaker. I would still have bought this tape. The tape inch numbers both flow in the same direction on either side of the tape, which dictates that the tape measure should be worn on the left hip in order for the numbers to be right side up, and the logger works from left to right down the log. If worn on the right hip the numbers are upside down on the backside of the tape. If this tape came with the numbers going in one direction on one side of the tape and going the opposite direction on the reverse side of the tape, coupled along with an additional triangle hook opposite the one that is already in place one could buy a double snap hook to attach and then wear the tape on the right hip, working right to left. The only other modification that this would require is to have the hook end be a 360 degree swivel which would be easy to do, further allowing left or right hip location of use. Overall I am impressed with this unit .....and it's made in the good OLD USA....try to find anything nowadays that is not made in China. I would recommend this tape to buy 100%. Good luck
