all I wanted was to convert the standard old worn out Harley front shocks and thee fit the bill. I highly recommend for normal everyday riding

Installed these after OEM needed refurbished and after RaceTech emulators. FYI, don't even try the Racetech. The Progressive cartridge is easy to install and they do inhibit breaking dive. And if you don't rip around mountainous corners every weekend, then these will suffice.I just upgraded from Progressive 412 rear shocks to Ohlins S36E. The Ohlins is a definite upgrade over the 412, which is better than OEM air shocks. Now riding on the Ohlins makes me realize the front forks need a better upgrade.Don't cheap out on suspension. If you can't afford the better shocks and cartridges, ride on the OEM and take more time to save. You'll be glad you did.

I noticed a night and day difference after putting these on my 2009 Road King from stock springs. The ride is now smooth, shocks recoil perfectly and help immensely in handling. An amazing upgrade, so glad I did it (rear 944 shocks are next). BTW don’t go by Amazon’s fit chart as it was wrong with these, they said it wouldn’t fit my bike but Progressive confirmed these would and they did.

I bought these with set of rears, so be prepared to part with some money. However, doing the shocks on all four corners of my 12 Ultra has breathed new life into the bike. The ride is a drastic improvement over stock. When removing the old shock setups, I was surprised to find that one fork had nearly perfect oil in it, while the other looked almost like rear end dope. This leads me to believe that only one fork was actually doing the majority of the work. I would highly recommend that you take a look at your head bearing if you do this, if you don't feel like pulling the forks again. Oh well, I guess it gives me something to do next winter. Installation isn't hard, but you do need a vice and a long (6mm I think) allen head to get one of the bottom drain plugs. Took a lot to break those loose.

This product is outstanding l- they are firm but not jarring - they took the spongy feeling out of my front suspension - a great match for the 944 rear shocks - I used two pre-load spacers on each fork tube - the ride height is stock - gives you more confidence in cornering and quick changing lanes - I installed them on my 06 Road King with 30k mi - I also changed bushings and seals while I had it apart - It was harder removing and reinstalling the headlamp nacelle than doing the shocks - well worth the money spent - handles better than new

I have an 08 Road King with Progressive 444's in back along with a touring link. I have been trying to improve the handling on this bike for a few years. I will say that buying good tires is the first step. The Touring Link improved it some. The 444's were a vast improvement over the stock rear air shocks as well, but I would still get the death wobble on grooved pavement or over certain bumps regularly, along with the standard vague Harley handling. I made a late night decision to finally purchase the stock height Mono-tubes and they came a few days later. I have decent mechanical ability, good tools, and some recent experience removing Harley front ends. Install took me about 7 hours from start to finish with plenty of breaks and distractions. I think it should probably take half of that or so for a real mechanic. Like most Harley projects, you have to have a service manual to do this properly. Instructions are more than adequate and Progressive has a few install videos that are very helpful. I do recommend checking these out prior to getting started.I weight 185lbs and I do not run a windshield or highway bars. I do run 14" ape hangers and I ride "assertively" or "deliberately" most of the time. My wife weighs about 120 (I'm gonna take her word for it) and she tends to go with me on longer trips for a few days at a time. I ride highways to work and backroads with the boys on the weekends as well. I called Progressive and asked specifically about how many spacer clips I should use given my bike, my weight/gear/passenger weight and my riding style. They were super helpful and told me not to listen to the interweb chatter I'd been reading. I used the stock ride height version and installed using 2 spacer clips as they recommend. Some have complained that it was harsh and recommended using 1 spacer clip, but I am happy with 2. The ride is firm, but not harsh or tiring to me at all. I did not notice any change in ride height as some have claimed, but I also forgot to measure prior to teardown. The first thing I noticed going down the road is how much more planted the bike felt at any speed. I am taking corners faster and smoother than before because the bike turns in quicker, tracks a better line, and does not want to drift wide like before. Stopping power is greatly improved. The notorious Harley death wobble is gone with the exception of the occasional hint of it in a few rare instances. There is no doubt the front end is stiffer, but I hardly notice it now and it was never uncomfortable for me because I prefer a firm ride over a mushy one.The bottom line: I've got about 500mi on them now and I am very happy with my purchase. Even combined with the rear shocks and touring link this does not solve all of the HD handling woes, but it is a vast improvement. I don't think you can do much better without spending a LOT more money.

I've put on a couple hundred miles on my bike since installing this kit @ 2 weeks ago. So far I'm quite pleased. This has improved my bike's handling considerably. (2012 FLHTK) The front end is definitely stiffer, but adding this kit removed all of the mushy wallowing and nose wagging I used to experience when I'd push into corners. Also a big improvement during braking; the extreme nose dive has been eliminated. This won't turn your nearly 1/2 ton cruiser into a "sport touring bike", but it is a great upgrade to your bike's suspension and handling.

Big improvement over the old worn out stock springs on my 2003 Road King. Relatively easy to install if you have any wrenching ability and a shop manual for your bike. Did I say there was a big improvement? That might be an understatement. The bike handles better than new, well worth the money.*****UPDATED*****. 3+ years later I have to say that the mono tube front suspension upgrade and 412 shocks may have been the single best improvement to my Road King I ever invested in. They still handle perfectly and are a huge improvement over the stock stuff. Don’t hesitate, you won’t be disappointed.
