I recently ordered this set of Prangs twice in a row. The first order included a small number of other items, which were combined in a single box. In this case the Prang box and packaging arrived in pristine condition. The second order, a sole item, arrived in a bubble envelope that did not prevent a heavy item from crushing a corner of the pencil box, breaking off the lead of three pencils. Please see photos.I have purchased nearly 10 packs of jumbo triangular pencils (as gifts for nieces and nephews) in the past few months. If affordability is paramount, I can recommend (as vividly pigmented and easy to blend and layer) both the very short 3.5" TinyGeeks brand and my favorites, the full length MAPED Jumbos 12-ct. I pounce on sales on each of those brands.I have not tried the Prangs, which are also a gift, but other users seem to confirm a superior product for children. Plus, ...The American brand PRANG has a very cool history, founded in 1888! They are now owned by the Dixon-Ticonderoga Company, which I also love. (You should google Louis Prang, father of the American Christmas card, inventor of the "Artist's Color Wheel".)When teaching his young daughter to paint (back in the late 1800s!), Louis Prang realized children needed better quality art supplies. He did many things during his career to improve the quality of resources for art education, not the least of which were his incredibly precise lithographs to provide reproductions of famous artworks for educational purposes. He also produced lithographs of Civil War maps and scenes, which kept the public engrossed in the details of the fighting at the time. He was also a great supporter of female artists.Anyway, Prang colored pencils, of all shapes and sizes, seem to be great and enjoyed by kids of all ages. I've purchased the nicely designed Duos, and a set of 50 colors, when they went on sale for very low prices. These jumbos don't seem to go on sale lol.

Weeks later, I am still so grateful for these pencils. Everything about them is absolutely perfect for my preschooler. They are bright colours, easy to hold, easy to sharpen, and don't roll off the table. I prefer these to markers/felts and to crayons for almost all of her work. My grade 2 student uses them sometimes too.

Really great pencils, they are thick enough that they don't break easily when dropped, but not too thick for discomfort. I teach several 4-5 year old kids and they love using these, I had to order a few sets just to keep them from arguing over the silver and gold pencils! They stay sharp longer than thinner ones, so you don't have to worry about constantly needing to sharpen. Great product!

The is great for a student with dysgraphia! Not only are they quality and blendable art materials, but they are triangular for an easy grip. They don't roll around, which can be a distraction and time waster for some children. This helps a student that has difficult with both pressing too hard and too lightly. The quality is such that the color will show up when used, and the thickness of the lead and shape helps with those that have trouble with lead breaking too easily when they press too hard!

These are our favorite drawing tool at home with my elementary aged kids. I love giving quality art supplies as birthday gifts and these always make my list. They were also my favorite colored pencil when I was an art educator in a museum. The large core size meant I don't have to sharpen them as often and they were far less prone to breaking than most colored pencils for learners. The colors are rich, satisfying, and blend well.

I originally bought these large coloring pencils for my then 3 year old nephew, but once I opened them up and tried them out I kept them for myself (I'm an amateur artist) Compared to other coloring pencils I've used (non-expensive ones) these were quite smooth. They also blended really well and were quite vivid. They also didn't break. My one year old nephew also enjoyed using them. They fit perfectly between his chubby little fingers and were bold enough for him to see color. I had them for about a year and a half before they all but one disappeared ( I suspect a one year old took them lol)

Lovely Coloured Pencils! These are a good value in comparison to some other large size coloured pencils I have found. They sharpen easily with the included sharpener. I've ordered a few extra sets in case we lose some. I also plan to keep a set in our bag for when we are out and about.

I have been on the search for the perfect set of color pencils for my 2 & 5-year-old children. I first purchased the Faber Castell Young Artist set, which included a small set of "jumbo" pencils. They work fine, but my son was disappointed there was no gray. A set of Crayola Write Start proved to have the same problem. Those sets are very similar in length and quality. I then found this set of Prange Large Triangular colored pencils and decided the price was worth a try. They are super fat, which is what I wanted. They are incredibly long, though, which makes it a little difficult for my 2-year-old. But the best part is the color variety. There is a beautiful silver, gold, and even pink - none of which we've found in another set designed for preschoolers. They color beautifully, much like a crayon. As far as durability, I accidentally dropped one right out of the box, and the only thing that broke was the tip of the lead. The only downside I've found so far is they seem to wear down easily. My 5-year-old colored a big sky with the light blue, and I had to sharpen it twice. He's not particularly heavy-handed either. I have included a picture that shows the variety of colors as well as how much smaller the blue is now. I used the sharpener that came with the set two times in just a few minutes. It's at least 3/4" shorter already. I'm just worried they won't last long at this rate.

My son uses these pencils daily, he likes to draw a lot and also for homework use. He stills draws with a lot of pressure and these don't break even after falling to the ground often. The color is very smooth and somewhat erasable which it's good. Highly recommended. These last a long time!!
