I purchased the Power Palm to help with the installation of maple flooring. It works very well with softer materials. Unfortunately, I am unable to use it without predrilling for maple. I have lowered the air pressure, increased the air pressure, applied light hand pressure and more hand pressure. The result is almost always a bent nail.

I LOVE this tool! I’m not a professional, but I’ve installed 4 or 5 hardware floors over the past 30 years, so I’m not a novice, either.I just installed 400 sqft of 3/4-inch hardwood acacia (not engineered). This was a phenomenal tool for doing those “hard to maneuver in” areas like under the dishwasher, the stove, the refrigerator.But since I was using acacia (very high on the Janka scale), a traditional floor nailer wasn’t doing the job at all! Every other 16ga cleat was bending. I ended up PRE-DRILLING holes in the tongue for all 18 cases, 1,350 pounds of the dense wood (red oak would have been half the weight) — and this tool (plus my trusty Dewalt drill!) made the whole installation possible! Set your PSI to 100, and you’re good to go!

Well it is not really the palm nailer, it is the nails made by the same brand 13/4" Powernail nails that bend over 90 degrees trying to put the nails in solid fossilized bamboo flooring (1/2"thick) not what I was hoping for, for the price of the palm nailer and the Powernail nails.

Love this little guy. Does what it's supposed too do. Just have to get use to it driving the cleats. Did a floor with 2 1/4 hardwood, if i didn't have this guy i would had to blind nail with a finish nailer 15 gauge. For the first 4 boards off the wall. But it was like using the cleat nailer. Worth the money.
