Love this little guy. So little work when you feel like a fire but don't want all the work. Love that there is the pellet option.

Easy to light and start a fire, throws off a lot of heat for a very small fire

For reference I bought the 8.6" version and I've only tried burning wood and not pellets. I will update when I try pellets. Out of the box the quality of the product looks good. The feet easily fold out, all parts fit well, and the carrying bags (while not the highest quality) works fine. After a long day of burning, the only change I saw was the smoke ring which is in the line of the flames the entire time so expected. It did leave a cool patina on the ring.I grabbed a 16lb bag of Kingsford Hickory wood chunks to use. These range from fist size chunks down to almost finger size chunks. Once I got it started with some kindling, it burned really well. I'd toss 3 chunks in there and would need to add 1-2 more every 5-10 minutes. Because the stove burns so hot, it turns those dry chunks in to coal pretty fast so the coals go in to a smoldering state and aren't giving out flame. This leads to the coals building up. I started burning at the beginning of the football game and then at half time (90 real time minutes) I had to empty the hot coals because they were getting built up to the air holes in the top of the stove. Left about a handful of coals in the bottom, threw more chunks it and it fired right back up. I ended up doing the same at the end of the game and then by halftime of the next game it was almost full again. It still burns when getting full, your wood is just sticking pretty far out of the stove. I'm sure with different woods the experience may be different. It puts out some heat so be careful getting close. Overall I'm happy with this stove and don't see a reason to buy one of the more expensive name brands.

I really wanted a Solo Stove, but I’m not willing to let a $400 fire pit sit outside of my camper at night. However, this unit for a fraction of the price does a surprisingly great job!I used to have to tote around lighter fluid and would go through half a bottle trying to light my fire in the open foldable style I used to have. This fire pit will light with just a few crumpled paper towels. In fact I piled my first fire full up paper not knowing this. Once it lit I had a 7’ tall fire tornado coming out of the top. The rim piece at the top was so hot it was glowing molten red. I splashed the tiniest bit of water on it to calm it down and the whole thing instantly went out.I thought I had ruined my fire pit in the first 5 minutes. Talk about thermal shock!! Well, it actually didn’t warp it and I’ve had several fires trouble free since. The folding option is great and certainly makes this unit portable. It’s also fairly smokeless as long as your logs are kept under the rim.Yes it discolors but I’m pretty sure Ive had some hot spots upwards of 1,000 deg (and the unit still can be disassembled and reassembled)Update after more than a year of fires. I recently had a continuous 16hour fire in this pit using eucalyptus hard wood. It got so hot that the unit actually started to bulge at the center. I thought for sure it was the end of this fire pit. To my shock, it returned to its original shape and can still be assembled and disassembled. Talk about impressive!! There was no damage to the floor of the pot either. I continue to be impressed with this unit!I use a Uniflasy fire pit shield. It doesn’t quite fit perfect, but it still sits on the rim and arrests sparks. That is also a great add to this little fire pit.

I have fired this up a few times now, trying small pieces of wood and wood pellets. Wood pellets work best and last the longest, probably about 30-45 minutes with the fire pit about 1/2 to 2/3 full. Once the heat builds up and the gasification kicks in, it works very well, with a strong fire around the upper holes and a nice 2-3' flame. There is one issue with wood pellets, once you pile it on, it is a bit difficult to get the pit to fire up, as the holes seem to be blocked by all the pellets. If you can keep the center a bit less piled up and keep the pellets on the sides, it works better. There needs to be a center stainless air shaft that allows air to get into the center of the pellets. You can get fire starter gel, or use 75% cheap hand sanitizer gel to spread around and light it though, and eventually it will take off.The ash pan that you pull up through the center that is to collect the ashes seems to get hung on the sides, it is so closely the same diameter. This means ashes and unspent fuel, etc will fall off the sides into the bottom and then you have to do this tilt up, then down and shake dance to get it fully emptied out. Not a big thing, but just something to consider. This was good enough a product I bought a second. It will make for a great travel pit to a park or a family outing where 2-3 people could do smores. It packs up well and has a tote to store it. So if you can get a fire started and don't mind the little bit extra work to shake out the debris, this may work for you.

Initial quality looks great. Slots into itself for compact storage and comes with a nice mesh, padded carry bag. Everything is constructed of stainless steel. The stand is very thick and the grilling 'grate' it comes with is a nice touch for adding a cast iron skillet for camp cooking. As for the size, 19" didn't sound very big but that's as measured from the inside diameter of the smoke ring plate that sits at the top. The actual overall diameter of the firepit is much larger, probably 23-24" if I were to guess. Regardless, this smokeless fire pit delivers some amazing heat and once she's warmed up, absolutely delivers "smokeless" fires. There will always be a little bit of smoke but nowhere near a traditional fire pit. Even after hours of being within feet of this firepit, I never smelled like smoke. Not in my hair, my clothes, anything. The best part is, it's significantly less expensive than the "Solo Stove" brand and works just as well (my friend owns a Solo so I have that to compare it with).I'm dubbing this, my "Yolo Stove", cause you only live once, so why waste your money overpaying for stuff!
