The part is smaller than the rollers in the M577 scanner and does not fit in that model

I ordered a few of these. The first one I installed made a horrible squealing noise. I returned it, and they sent another one out. I installed another one, and the next day it also started squealing, and causing paper jams. The ratchet mechanism in it is noticeably tighter than the original HP part was, and it adds a lot of friction.
