This punch was used a couple times and performed well. It was purchased because of its hardened tip. Used on hard material, it worked well. But eventually, the hardened tip shattered. I was a bit disappointed. It was sharped on a grinder, but I haven’t used it since, so not sure if it will now do the job. As far as I’m concerned, for the price, it did not meet my expectations.

Tip chipped after 15 uses (30 minutes). This is the second one i've bought. I thought the first one chipping was maybe a fluke. The 15 punches were nicer than hardened steel punches but lasted just as long. Used on HY 80 steel. Steel 20, Punches 0. My search continues.

Absolutely genius to put a carbide tip on the center punch. It punches anything and never dulls.

This is much nicer than my old starret hole punch that is rusting away. It is more expensive but i’m a firm believer in the old saying “buy once, cry once”. You pay for what you get.

Surprisingly heavy, with a tungsten carbide pin embedded, which forms the tip.Useable to mark tempered steel. It looks a bit different from the picture shown, it is grey, not blue, with a brownstripe near the tip.For the price I expected an heirloom piece with the tip remaining sharp for a long time. But, using on marine vessels, it does go dull in a month or two. The tip can be resharpened on a grinder. My overall impression is that it is not worth the extra money, at least for marking hard steel. It is not that much better than a pedestrian, cheaper center punch.

This center punch has a carbide tip, which means I was able to mark a center in 60 HRC steel. My other cheaper punches couldn't make a dent (literally), and had to be reground after attempting. Other than that, it's a regular punch and works fine. Probably not with the money unless you are going to be working with hardened steel.
